And I am simply here. It’s still a curtain, not necessarily for this window, and maybe that will change. I think it might be leaning toward blanket/curtain. A transitional sort of cloth. The holiday lights are still up, probably I will never take them down. Actually I will probably move them out to the porch, they make nice nightlights. I couldn’t find them when we moved in. I always had them hanging in my studio back on the island. Instant […]

I lit a fire. Sometimes I stand there, thanking my lucky stars. Sometimes I am being watched. A stack of larger cloths. Because I love a stack of stories. I took this one, Balancing Act, off the wall. Put it on the big round table. Because I think, the table rings, the circles, even just the impression of basket, I need that to be part of everything going forward. Yes. And here we go. I will let the line disappear […]

This Old Heart Been calling this that. I added circles. A basket. I stitched them with Deb’s thread, the one I call sketchy thread, mostly whiteish with some dirty grey marks. I remember asking here about black and whiteish, if she could do that. And she did. Using one strand, on this scale, a lot like a drawn line. Line, another subject to be revisited. I thought I might be done, but then SUNflower popped back up, because it is […]

He is really patient lately, wakes up early and just waits. It’s May, and yet, cold enough for a fire, so I built one. But here is a lawn update. My neighbor told me to be careful, these weeds will take over. He gave me a puzzled look when I said I was excited. A little stitch. Not to much, just to make note of what was running walking through my mind. One at a time then, walking stitch.

Humid, way hot, yet turning. The light begins to seep through the tired foliage. We are opening to autumn. I am back to the circle that I drew on Grow, tracing the edge of the round glass table it sits on. Maybe it just defined my current reach. Now red, like a ring of fire.

Continuing. From here. I made a circle using the Double Running Stitch aka the Magic Stitch when it is done in black and white. I think really I should rename it the Double Walking Stitch. You have to go slowly. And there are more things to say. But not today. Loose thoughts are on my mind and then imaginings on how they might come together. And then of course the question. What If it doesn’t much matter? Followed quickly by […]

Shelter. 2013 Back under the needle. Because everything here needs to be reconsidered. It’s time. I am quilting this one, using field, black and white fields of stitch. Creating a nine patch overlay. This one is very thin. I was going to add another layer. But. It makes me think, reminds me of the thin-ness of shelter. How we divide space to make place but how space can be so easily reclaimed.

Yesterday was just a hilarious day. It’s Turkey Time. They were everywhere. And noisy. ( I posted a little movie on Instagram because it is easy to do that over there.) That stone wall is not the end of the property. The edge of an original parcel. But this lot has 5 of them. Sectioned by these stone markers. The long ago owner had plans to sell them separately. These pieces were not buildable because of the stone and the […]
