This Old Heart Been calling this that. I added circles. A basket. I stitched them with Deb’s thread, the one I call sketchy thread, mostly whiteish with some dirty grey marks. I remember asking here about black and whiteish, if she could do that. And she did. Using one strand, on this scale, a lot like a drawn line. Line, another subject to be revisited. I thought I might be done, but then SUNflower popped back up, because it is […]
Sometimes a big ol’ patch is just the thing. (Continued from here, in case you weren’t here yesterday…) I think Dee sent me this cloth, but my memory cannot be depended on these days. Patching is applique really. I left the top edge ragged, that makes this cloth a cobblecloth. As if it wasn’t already? I tend to use single thread for quilting these days. I was more likely to use 2 way back when. Interesting to see the play […]
There is no point, she said to her(my)self, to blog without allowing comments. What’s the point then? That’s the thread that runs through it. Holds it together. Validates this cyber space as a place, the web. So then what is the point of comments if you don’t answer them? If you can. 6 strands of thread here. A bigger needle. A bit harder to pull the thread through, but problem solving is what we do. That is what growing is. I […]
Walking through the forest yesterday, suited up to battle ticks and flying things. It’s been humid and wet, less human friendly lately. The paths are overgrown, the green is thick, and the water that spills through the stone wall to the adjoining property, it is indeed forming a pond-like environment. I am going to ask the neighbors to stop riding through on their ATV, an arrangement we made during winter, with my permission, to give the boy an activity […]
There was a bit of sweaty stitching yesterday. It reached 94 here. This morning 57. I didn’t want to cover the original embroidery so I worked the 2 points with thread. Deb thread. It was a slow challenge, I love this appearing and disappearing. I used what I call the wrap stitch. There is a lot of old cloth around here, I have ideas. I watched a squirrel friend fall prey to a fox friend. There wasn’t much else I […]
Good Morning It seems such a privilege, in these days… to be sitting here, just sitting here, stitching. Not in terms of what’s happening here, but what is happening everywhere. I got so lost in complaining about such stupid things. Yesterday, I was working on the Mothering Cloth. Today it is my mother. As I remember how she used to say, “Don’t worry, something will come of it.” Something. Can be anything. Some new loose thoughts on framing this morning. What […]
From this point in the season, we can see into the forest. Here, beyond the garden fence and the birdboxes , which have, yes!, become homes to bluebirds, you can see the closest path we cleared, beyond that the path carved by the new stream, and then the mossy hill where the cedars begin. The cedars here are compromised by the new tree growth that was never managed. Tree guy has some ideas. I have recently begun reconsidering an old […]
Yesterday I made a new path. Through the wild growth and through my tangled mind. I noticed the Japanese Maple is turning. Today there is a soft drizzle. Dark but light enough to sit near the big window and stitch on Heal. I added this final patch. I will quilt this now. Until it seems like enough. I’ll try anyway. I’ll be back when I get there.
