Yesterday, Liz, she mentioned Design Mending. I responded and then suddenly listened to myself, saying it has all become that. And yes, I truly feel that. Which goes back to my feelings about thingness and form. It is all moving. I source my energy from that. …after some stitching. The dots/circles look a bit like bubbles. I did not intend whales. Just life flow. But now they are there. …after some folding just to remove the house from view. Maybe […]

Sometimes a big ol’ patch is just the thing. (Continued from here, in case you weren’t here yesterday…) I think Dee sent me this cloth, but my memory cannot be depended on these days. Patching is applique really. I left the top edge ragged, that makes this cloth a cobblecloth. As if it wasn’t already? I tend to use single thread for quilting these days. I was more likely to use 2 way back when. Interesting to see the play […]

I placed my Deep Pool of Thought over a Nest of Days so I might Reconsider Freedom. Gee, that’s a mouthful, isn’t it? From the side, Three cloths deep, but many more moments… It became a Medicine wheel Basket. In my mind. Not a shield but a deep pool of holding some sort of personal order. And acceptance. Of what might be but maybe never will be. And I can rest in that, the imagined. The form that arises if […]

Yesterday, on Instagram, I posted a little video, because it was easy just to capture a few moments. And I said: If there is one thing I have learned over the years, it is to leave your edges open, because form evolves. And fringe is my symbol for continuing. I know I have said that before, but in the context of layers, the natural build up of layers in collage type work is a covering up process, but I love interrupting […]

So this, posted on Instagram yesterday. A NEW DAY. in the works forever. Right before I took this picture, I took the one below. And there I was hiding, sort of. Part of me. Perhaps I love layers because I see them so clearly in myself. Seasons are layers, layers of time, although we often represent them as part of a circle. It feels more real , the experience of layers… than the circle that is so much bigger than […]

I ended up with more of a smolder than a fire. Because of what was on hand. Continuing to build, considering Shelter. This sheer silk gauze was dyed by Glennis (resource page), years ago, and today it grew into something quite beautiful. I tacked the edges with tiny stitches that do not go through. It has no weight, but the cloth is way stronger. Since I have not completed the stitches that hold the layers together, the quilting, I will […]

Yesterday I placed the SHELTER piece over the center of HEAL. I always appreciate how a large cloth might become a kind of home, for smaller cloth and even smaller thoughts. If only for a moment. I love the way , in this case, something older or even beneath the surface might extend the story. Here shelter grew arms. We got our second dose yesterday and I feel like I’ve been hit by a train. I can’t even bear […]

Some old nine patch done Skitch Skatch style, maybe from Small Cloth class? Can’t remember. Another layer of sketch made it #5 in the Just Home series. I kind of like how this looks like an architectural drawing. So What If (?) I dye over the Sketch? Skye. I think I might be finding a new path here. And this OLD Home might become a series in itself. First off it might be important to say that I patched before I […]
