Yesterday I placed the SHELTER piece over the center of HEAL. I always appreciate how a large cloth might become a kind of home, for smaller cloth and even smaller thoughts. If only for a moment. I love the way , in this case, something older or even beneath the surface might extend the story. Here shelter grew arms. We got our second dose yesterday and I feel like I’ve been hit by a train. I can’t even bear […]
When we moved here, this hill was hidden by fallen trees, brush and a lack of care. This is the view from the kitchen area, near the washing machine which we will move to the basement so we can make this a sitting/eating area. The water connection will not cost too much, there is already plumbing down there. The dryer, which is rarely used when it is above freezing, will be moved too but maybe not connected for now. Some […]
All together. Now, just for the touching. What If(?) a series is just the answers to a string of questions. A string is a thread really… So Then, What If(?) we are home when everyone else is home. A puzzle where every stray piece has found a place. There is a cloth called HOME. And the story is on TypePad. So much work to do to move things to a safe place.
Coma. The quilt I call that. I washed it. You probably saw it flying, while drying, over at Instagram if you follow me there. Because I had my phone in my pocket at the moment. Just to bring it here. A large cloth that I have decided to complete as a sleeping bag. Suddenly that made sense. This side, let’s call it the real side. It is quite amazing. It’s a map that I think only I might understand. I […]
This cloth. Well some of you remember. I made this one for Glennis to use as a display at Quilt Festival years ago. And then someone wanted to purchase it and I needed to do a little work on it first and then that person disappeared and it got folded up for a while and well Time flies. ( you can view a little video of it flying over at Instagram if you follow me there …) Glennis dyed most […]
Eventually, the fog moves on. Or we do. I’m not really one to give up on just about anything. As you might know by now, yesterday’s self is mostly not today’s, even though we (selves) are all in the same basket. After what can be at this point, a lifetime, I have come to appreciate that place between my mood swings. As much as the rocking back and forth. Life mostly happens in the middle. Might life be, then, the […]
This is a cloth now, an official large cloth. before, just a bunch of scraps sewn together, to store them. Way back, when Electric Jude was trying to be efficient. No sewing machine here now. Although my brother has a treadle machine I will grab from his attic room one of these non pandemic days. I will call her ROSE. 46″ square-ish, minus a bite that was taken out to use for a base for something else. There was a […]
Reaching Back a bit to go forward. I want to talk about drawing a bit, but yes, I have said so much about it before. I once called this cloth Magic Cloth 2. But now, I let the name go, and it remains untitled. I am reconsidering the cloth in the present and I will rename it. Maybe for now, I will go with SPIN. As I said once, way back when, this is not really a wall cloth it’s […]
