The way it’s going…

There was one warm ( above freezing) day.

It's been snowing ever since.

0 tonight, 8 tomorrow. -3 tomorrow night.

These need mending.

But I worked on my sweater instead. I'm going to sleep in it.

I'm using wool applique combined with darning.

Bloomed just in time for Solstice. Quiet gathering has begun.

Cold sunset.  The promise of longer days.

Here we are again,

I wish for you all a smooth crossover as the light returns.

At least I picked up a needle today.

I am  still unpacking.  My computer cord is still missing.  The laptop is ok I guess.

It's still snowing.

I brought in enough wood.

Nothing better than a much loved wool sweater on a cold day or night. I have always enjoyed settling in to a new home…probably the excitement of a new beginning.

    Hi Jude –
Just love the photos of your rustic house. I would love it too. And the window views. However, I know it is colder than it looks in your cozy photos. The first year we moved to Colorado, it was so very cold. I made two “bird” robes – one for winter and one for “summer”! Then I started on my Magic in the Mountains quilt – king size. The second year was much better – I made insulated curtains and long sleeves to put on at night. You do learn to adapt but I have to say, I don’t miss 20 feet of snow. We are in VA now and every time I sit down to work on my quilt (seemingly a continuous winter project 😂 ), I am thinking of you. It is certainly an adventure for you and Soul-O ! 🐈‍⬛ Sending bright (and warm) light for the holidays!

yes, a sense of place evolves, I have learned so much about how to be comfortable here already.
I like connecting with need and mending my ways.

Your new home looks so cozy, I was curious as to how far away is the new house from the old one. I have never experienced the cold of snow.
Does the wind howl? Hope that there aren’t any unsealed areas where cold comes in.
My cats look for Boxes with Blankets for warmth and security.
Soul-O is such a great companion. I would be lonely without my purr babies.
I know you will be happy when you find your computer cord.
Wishing you eternal happiness and warmth for Christmas and the New Year.

It’s about 125 miles north of the old house.
there hasn’t been much wind, but the wind has always howled where ever I have lived.
There are drafts but sealing them up is a slow process and the temperature is too low right now.
There are many places for soul-o to stay warm.
All the best to you as we move along to a new season.

Such beauty…all of it. We have sun again today, which is welcomed with de(light) 🌞

I wear clothes to bed too 😉

Oh so soothing to pick up a needle to do some mending. Those are some cold temps! Happy Solstice and Yuletide Greetings as we return to the light.

Brought wood in today too. A Nor’easter coming through, so windy had to keep the fires low.
Happy Soulstice. Sweater looks comfy and warm.

I’m very glad to see you and Soul-O settling in. Moving in winter presents some extra challenges, but here you are and here is the promise of ever more light. I hope that will hold true for you in all ways.

Jude~ This may be a repeat, my comment disappeared…but no matter. Just so good to see you here in your gorgeous new space with a lovely gathering. May the growing light provide much warmth, clarity and Goodness for you and Soul-O.

Sometimes it takes a while, or even leaving and coming back before you can see your comment . More light is a nice thing to look forward to.

As a rural New Englander I notice the beams in your house and the fire. I have a weakness for heating and huge wood beams. Happy Brumalia and Saturnalia.

Love every photo. Especially the quiet gathering of the animals around the Solstice candle. Blankets, shared warmth with Soul-O … sweet, beautiful kitty. Mending … so important. All blessings of the returning light to you and abiding thanks.

It seems appropriate for you to be settled in just now as the days begin slowly to lengthen. Coming up into the light of a dark place and time.

Nice to see you both settling in. The days are getting longer already. The sun is already a little higher in the morning and a little warmer on the blue sky day. Solstice blessings to everyone here.

  22. Soul-O looks very comfortable and I hope you are too. We know that change is inevitable, but it isn’t always easy. Wishing you warmth and beautiful light in your life. It looks like you already have a handle on that.
