Another Ring

coming or going

season

Some old drawing, I think I even stitched this once upon a time, but who can remember.  I wonder how it would look as a circle arrangement?

On the edge of New

I have begun another ring of dots on the cloth I call Grow. It is sort of living on the big round table now.   And these new dots are conveniently on the edge.  Breakfast dots. This one, Line Guided Applique.

oh sweet buds

It looks like, despite the late freeze, Magnolia will bloom after dropping only a few buds.  I just found out that magnolia blossoms are edible.  Or you can make tea.  Did you know?

Magnolia petals are great in salads. Depending on the variety they add a spicy, or more lemony taste . Others are more subtle. Crunchy, like daylilies. Plants for a future/Pfaf website is a good source of information I find.

SoulO on the moon trail! I was thinking about the past bunny ears. I’m remembering sharing magnolia eats last year, if only pine cones could feed the world.

  3. I remember you stitching at least one of the trees. I recently learned that about magnolias, they are just starting to bloom here. I wish I had enough space for a big one, but the closest park as lots so there is that. Glad you started another ring…ring around the rosies. :

Another cat-approved project. Keep on Growing.
Miner’s lettuce is popping up here now; always a favorite salad. We have lots of plantain but never tried it; is it like spinach or more like kale?

I follow a woman on instagram, the Blackforager and she has taught me all about the things in my yard that I can eat. I’ve not tried magnolia but I’ve made dandelion capers and violet syrup. I also like to start my day stitching but my beverage is coffee.

No I didn’t know that! We have magnolias growing all around our property, and wooded area behind us. They pop up everywhere and grow fast! I love the huge white flowers and scent 🤍

I didn’t know that but I know birch leaves especially when they are young could be used too,, they even seems to be healthy.

  8. Huh. No, I did not know. We had two Magnolia trees at my childhood home. My mom loved them so much. So…little pancake dots?! I think the trees would be perfect in a circle…stitched, drawn, painted – however.

Do all of us here start our mornings with tea and stitching? I’ve also just added the ritual of doing Morning Pages, from Vein of Gold by Julia Cameron.
I really feel for the magnolias, although this year most of ours here in Pittsburgh managed to bloom at some point.
