S is for Splitting hairs.
I use a split backstitch a lot in my work.
Sometimes, when a finer line or thinner surface is desired, I use a single strand of floss or thread. And I call it splitting hairs.
In this form it is the slowest stitch I know. It is glorious and it takes forever.
