Time away from screens continues, just stopping by to say a few things.
Mostly I've been darning socks and mending things that are showing wear. Including myself.
I accidentally deleted a bunch of unread emails during an antibiotic stupor. So if you have tried to contact me and have received no answer, please try again. I think I have emerged from Loopyville.
Also. For those who follow our ragmate Deb G , I just wanted to let you know she is recovering from a sudden health issue... and will be taking a little break from blogging.
Ok then...

glad to hear you’re feelin’ “almost normal”… as my dad used to say, “what doesn’t kill ya makes ya stronger!” interesting how what we mend helps mend us. love those healing heels… x
my dad used to say that too…
Hi Jude, thinking of you and hoping you have a happy and healthier Christmastime. And to everyone in the circle here. xx
Ho Ho Ho!
Jude, so glad you’re on the mend AND that your home is more winterized this year. I hope you enjoy the holidays with your family…they are always better with grandma! Take good care…
Can’t believe I Madeira to “grandma”.
Hold tight, winter is here,,,and illness sucks, especially when living alone.
Starry night well wishes to you.
Yes it is so different. Thank you…
hope you’re on the mend Jude. I have just been discharged from hospital today because of pneumonia. They say it will be quite a long road but boy it’s good to be home.
Get your feet up and take care.x
I had bacterial pneumonia and I was home and I’m improving quickly. The fatigue is on and off. I’m glad there was no hospital. Take care and feel better! ❤️
❤️ and to Deb too.
❤️❤️
The quiet season helps healing but it also brings times of bitter cold weather. May you have enough wood for your fire to stay warm, a pot of nourishing soup, a cup of tea perhaps with a wee dram of something “medicinal. Most of all, may family, help you along your way to feeling better and may you continue to feel better every day.
Thanks Marti, a “wee dram” has me smiling
Come back soon, Jude! Your words are a light in a forest to me…
🌞
Lots of love and thoughts coming your way ! Pneumonia is a tricky and nasty one ! Go slowly and mend yourself (as well as your socks 🙂 !)
Yeah, what a drain, glad to have some energy returning.
Go slowly Jude. Healing takes time, be well soon. Darning sounds good as my sock mending basket overflows. I think Soul-o has the right idea, a bit of looking outside and then resting! Cats know, animals know!
It’s good ti have him here.
Thoughts and wishes for a strong recovery. Stay cosy warm ❤
❤️
Take care of you! it looks to be a heck of a winter (I’m in northeast Ohio so I get it). Thank goodness you were able to get so much done on your house so you can at least stay warm. Thanks for the heads up.
Yeah, the heat is good. Still burning wood but sleeping through the night.
Sleep is definitely necessary to heal.
Thesocks are lifesafing
Good to read you
Oooh Deb..
Love
Couldn’t believe how many holes opened up.
I miss Deb’s posts.
Healing and heeling – thank you for your lovely surprise update and I do hope you have a peaceful recuperation and not too much snow x
Hey, snow is ok if my health holds. 😊
So glad to hear you’re on the mend. Love and hugs from across the pond. ❤️🙏🌟
✌️
Glad you are on the mend. Snuggle down and build up your strength. Tea, ginger and honey to sip and warm your innards.
Right here next to me
I had a “spot” of pneumonia a few years ago. No fun. The fatigue was real.
Drink lots of tea, put on those socks, snuggle that sweet cat, and nap. Rest is one of my favorite words.
Yeah, never felt this tired. Eek.
Wordless here, too. A winter of sorrow.
Winter, the metaphor, is on my mind.
love you
Backatcha.
glad to know you’re recovering and glad the boy and family are nearby.
Yes, they are so close.
Thx for Deb update! I’m selfishly missing my daily lifts by you but seriously happy you’ve taken time to winter and surely create magical holiday fun with Bruno and family. And that your added heat is keeping you warmer this year. Merry Christmas Jude, just know how many hearts you’ve opened. I know mine is. It’s your turn. Peace and joy and stitching!!!
If I could also throw in, as heavy on me, please all be careful moving around, practice balance, slow and steady. My sister slipped in kitchen with socked feet, fracture her pubic ramus, TWELVE WEEKS OF HEALING. I so worry for her. She said happened out of no where. Be safe everyone.
Yes falling is so much a concern, especially with all the ice. Mt neighbor slipped and cracked a rib on her way out to the car.
❤️
So glad you are well again…being older and ill is just hard.
Lots of hope your way that you may not suffer that again for a very long time.
By the way, I want you to know I find comfort, soothing and inspiration in your posts. So; thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Ah thanks for saying…
This is the winter of our discontent…. we too are struggling; with the cold outside and inside the hearts of some… lost our beloved cat Grace, hubby ill, skunks on the porch at night, paid some bills twice, all kinds of oddness… looking inward for peace.
Yeah it’s a tsunami of sorts for so many…
Yikes. Sounds harrowing. I’m glad you’re on the mend.
I was so shocked to hear pneumonia…
I’ll bet. Scary.
Glad you are healthy again. Sending a wish for that to continue ✨❤️✨
Thanks, being sick is no fun…
Glad you’re feeling more alive Jude!
I keep thinking I should get a flu shot.
Take care 💙🔥☕️
Yeah, older age comes with new concerns.
Been suffering from arthritis after getting off my medicine for two weeks so that I could get my COVID and flu shots. Ugh. It’s finally turning. Cold weather coming in this weekend. Take care, all!
I need to get a flu shot, never did before, believe it or not.
Please do when you are up to it. Flu A&B is pretty thick up your way.
Yeah…
So glad you’re feeling better. 🙏🌸🙏
Thanks, it was depressing.
It is good to know you are on the mend. Pneumonia is no fun.
Before I even noticed Soul-O’s photo (!) the dye pots caught my eye. I thought it was ‘possums! The left one is sitting on a pot looking down and the right one has his head buried in the pot–apparently eating something. I guess it’s the pot handles that look like their tails. Even knowing what they really are, I see ‘possums.
I kinda, sorta, not really. miss the snow of NY, but I definitely do miss the brightness it provides. Here, winter is all grays and brown and dark greens most of the time, which can be depressing even if the temperatures are in the high 50s. White snow brightens everything. And it’s glorious when the sun shines. At least that’s how I remember it.
Yes, snow can be difficult but it is always beautiful.
Faith~ haha those do look like possums!! 😀
I was thinking of you today, wondering how you were. Now I know! I’m glad you’re feeling better. Stay warm and comfortable!
Thank you!
So sorry to hear your lungs are being challenged. I’ve heard many say they are in need of much sleep this winter. Solstice soon. Oh, bless the precious pets that keep our hearts warm! That is one adorable cat. I love mending. It’s one of those “more of this, please” activities. Be well!
Yeah, time to curl up and rest.
I’m glad to hear you have recovered. I, too, had a cold that aggravated my asthma, and I was down for the count for 3 weeks.
Have you been getting a lot of snow? It’s snowy here. Very cold temps too.
Hope you have a wonderful holiday.
Will you see your son?
I think I ran myself down a bit…
About a foot of snow so far. Snowing everyday. And way cold.
I see my son all the time, he is right down the road.
Susan~ Aw, I’m glad you’re feeling better from a cold & asthma event, as I know those so well. Take care.
Jude~ Oh. am so sorry for the ‘pneumonia’. And so glad you are on the mend. Thank you for letting us know about Deb. I thought no new posts maybe due to the blog change, so I’m grateful to know what is really happening.
Your snow looks beautiful and cold!
Much love in this season. xo
Yeah, I thought she was hibernating like me but she woulda said something…
Good morning Jude,
What a delightful surprise your post was.
I agree with Nancy, seeing a post from you and Solo is a bright spot in my day.
This winter weather seems more harsh, but it might just be me getting older too. Stay safe, stay warm and blessings from Northwest Ohio.
My Grandson just bought a home in NY state. It was built in 1850, absolutely beautiful place, in West Sand Lake.
I’ll close with Wishing you a Merry Christmas and blessings for a Bright New Year.
Pat
In Pioneer, Ohio
I think that’s about 100 miles north of here, the older homes are so great. Happy holidays!
Oh boy, pneumonia will knock the energy out you! I was recently experiencing an asthma episode and I get your brain fog! Keep on mending both kinds…❤️and rest rest rest. Xoxo Barbara
Yeah I was shocked, I was like in a coma…
Oh dear. Take care. Will touch base with Deb as well.
Getting ready to pick up the grandson here. Some cookie baking, looking at neighborhood decorations etc. have household guests…
And two geriatric dogs. More than enough.
Let Soul and the wintry view from inside keep you warm. ❤️ and ☕️
Feeling almost normal. For me antibiotics are worse than the illness sometimes.
Enjoy your holiday…🙃
