3 Purple Knapweed
4 Meadowsweet
5 St John's Wort
6 Vetch
7 Nipplewort
Just growing here. I wanted to show 9 but I got tired. A lot of these are considered Invasive. Lately though I have considered that WE are the most invasive of all. Who are we to decide...?
Really.

I have fond memories of honeysuckles. The smell and the taste.
I just learned they get berries. Many here.
Good point. The only thing more harmful to the planet than the human race is probably kudzu. And by now, maybe some scientist has found a good use for that.
We are part of it all, I guess, hoping for balance.
Good to find you here. Many useful plants you have there. I make salve with the Jewelweed for poison ivy and other itches. Learning about St John’s Wart but haven’t put it to use yet. Hope this means you’re feeling a little better.
Yes, better. Being outside helps.
Good morning Jude,
So nice to see the beautiful plants at your Shangri-la. Happy to see a post from you.
Invasive or not, flowers are always spirit lifting in my opinion. Continue to get back to yourself and better health.
Pat
Flower power!
Lovely pictures and plants.
I’ve used Meadow Sweet to dye silk a lovely burnt orange.
Best of all is St John’s Wort, have managed red, yellow green then left overnight a dark brown almost black, a great natural dye as well as it’s medical properties…
maybe next year I will get to the dyeing part. Amazing how many plants are useful and even edible.
The only one we have here is vetch. My daughter used to bring me a bouquet of it every year when she was little. Sweet memories.
flowers and memories are so linked, right?
Big love for those. Thank you! Yes, we are the invasive ones!
Certainly has become apparent lately.
Ha, touch me not I know as jewel weed. 🙂
yes, the touch me not part, I just learned… apparently the seed pods explode if you touch them at a certain ripeness, maybe touch me is better, ha!
It’s good to know the neighbors. I had to label nipplewort at work for a sign and just couldn’t do it….went with the Latin name. And that led me to learn that it was used as a herbal remedy at one time. 🙂
ha, I know, I love learning the stories behind the names too.
Love the pictures and names of the plants!
I’m learning
Aw, so glad you been out and about, poking around and finding so much beauty close to home. Beautiful flowers that I don’t get to see here. Thanks for sharing. ❤️
my garden is now simply the wild one, so much to learn.
The purple knapweed looks a bit like bergamot. Happy to hear you are feeling better. Take it slow and easy. I am!
it does, the bottom of the blossom is the key
damn right we’re invasive. we need a new perspective about such things.
Amen, Sister! Beautiful invasives!!
new eyes, new eyes
In the midst of Melbourne winter you show me spring. Blessings!
it’s nice to balance things out
7 plants + you+ soul-o = 9 things growing! well done, jude! x
that works
Humans are as much a valid organism in an environment as any other. We aren’t the only destructive species and not everything we do destroys.
really wasn’t implying that, more that all living things are simply living things and what is good and bad is simply a matter of perspective, which we thinking beings have.
BEAUTIFUL photos, and you are so right about the invasive humans…
agreed!
Off to more of my hikes in the morning!
THX
Beth
