Cold, yes. It about as cold as they predicted. Pretty much too cold.
Plus big wind! And it's snowing.
I sat by the fire and stitched a bit.
This one is different, The heart is dyed and stitched on a rayon patch. But I stitched it to a piece of wool. Wool is what I want to work with now. But in new ways. I hope to be up to speed on video soon. For now, it feels good just to hold it. It's warming.
I added wool as a category. I think I'll need it.

wool really does have a different feel. every now and then I come across some vintage Japanese wool. Often it is mixed with another fiber- silk or cotton. generally it is pretty fine and easy to reuse. always a great cloth when I do come across it.
Yes, I think about it differently than when I was just weaving. I think it’s got a story to tell.
Hi Jude, I’m a long time subscriber but the last few months I haven’t been getting your blog notices and links. I look forward to reading your blog so could you add me to your mailing list? I tried subscribing again but it tells me I’m already subscribed ( ironic right?). Thanks and this is how much your work means to me to tap this message out on my phone. Thank you !!

Check your spam folder. It happens…
What an adventure you are having! Wool is just a completely different sensory experience…especially when felted. Everything just sinks into it. I love the way it feels to stitch through it.

It’s mysterious how a visual motif that you’ve used for years gets a whole new life here. It’s more than the wool, I think.
Maybe it was my mood.
Oh, that fire photo warmed my tootsies, and the patch warmed my heart cockles.
Ha!
Beautiful ❤️
All those frayed edges of the wool make me think of blood vessels to the heart! “Great vessels”
Hope your power stays on and stay warm 💙🕊
Oh, they do, nice eyes you have
👍🏻😊
Jude~ Oh my the cold! We are on big wind warnings, sky holds clouds. Some schools are at temporary locations (on the grounds of other schools) and even my center is closed. We got the notice our power may be shut off as a precautionary measure.
Over at your place…the warm fire and warm heart are quite soothing. Stay safe and warm.
Really big wind here, hope the power holds, at least the fire is off grid!
After the beautiful picture of the fire the frayed wool looked for me like a fire heart. Love this look. Welldone. thanks for the sharing
Yes, fire all around, energy.
I started to work with wool about 12 years ago and have not stopped… I weave with wool, I collect Dorr Wool from New Hampshire in the USA and here in Canada, I collect clothing that is all wool that I can dye and us in my artworks… hand stitching only…and I LOVE (have loved for many years with you) beautiful pieces like the one we see here. Treasure…
I worked with wool mostly when I was weaving, I’m ready to experiment with some new ideas.
I thought I saw the sun reflecting on top of the piece of wool… still gives the feeling though☺️, the reddish fraying at left edge of heart piece gives the feeling of flirting. I love your work and how it helps me to look for deeper meanings. Thank you.
This heart seems alive
Love that heart piece! Warm wool for cold weather makes good sense to me, wise choice lol
Seems so right…
Jude…will you be ‘teaching/sharing’ working with wool in the Forever Zone?
Yes, that’s my “plan”. (She laughs)
Mmmm. Toasty.
Sitting close
How I read this cloth immediately – There’s a lot of movement in the bigger picture, some slower, swaying/frayed energy close to home, but the heart is protected by magic thread and a stable structure. Heart-warming.
In a way, it is another kind of cabin. I was thinking that.
Yes, I thought that, too.
I’m glad you could feel the holding…
i love wool!! i have a whole shelve of dismantled Harris tweed jackets (most had moth bites) and wool pieces i bought from a reshoring store (much nicer than recycle). the colors and patterns are incredible. I’ve been cutting out squares to make 9 patches.
Harris tweed which feels so scratchy in a jacked becomes quite soft after washing.
of course, 15 inches of snow on Sunday and now very cold makes me reach for wool.
I have some wool patchwork I started yeats ago, I’m sure to uncover it soon.
The fire photo is enchanting.
No longer able to hand stitch due to the dreaded A word I gave my great piles of wool to my friend; I will live vicariously in your creations.
My arthritis has improved since I became more active and started making ginger turmeric tea.
I nibble on ginger frequently; haven’t tried tumeric yet except in cooking. No cartiledge left in wrists so stuck wearing braces. Also starting chemo next week. Life’s a challenge.
Sounds like you are facing it head on. So far my Arthritis is manageable…
can totally feel the WARMTH radiating from this latest creation! love the bit of pale green glow at the top. looks like a purple beast with floppy ears perched on your wood…
Everything is shape-shifting
Oh I see it!!
Me too
It’s beautiful. It really is the Spirit of the Cloth. Like mythology.
It surprised me.
Heart(h) Warming ❤️🔥
Nice word play
☺️❤️🔥
Is it the feel of the wool that you’re finding attractive right now? Or the way it behaves when you sew it? I just found some wool garments that I was planning to repurpose and then forgot about. A red cashmere sweater, a thick school uniform skirt. I’m not exactly sure what to do with them yet though. I hope you can stay warm enough.
Both. I want to consider it in the same ways I have been considering other cloth.
wool is a necessity! especially this winter.
I’m falling in love.
It’s the antidote.
I think so.
