May. It's only May.
It was 92 degrees here on the porch yesterday.
Then the humidity moved in overnight. I let a few images melt together here. I counted 11 mosquito bites by days end. The town has issued a mosquito alert for this summer. Imagine that.
A long time ago, maybe 1969?
When I move up north my life with mosquitoes might change. Imagine that.
Thunderstorms today. I like thunderstorms. Boom! Here it comes.

That’s just too hot too early.
Either we adjust or Nature will.
I have a story in my head and it ain’t pretty
I’m in a more northern north and I can confirm mosquitos are plentiful here, too. Ticks are extra ‘friendly’ this year. Just makes hiking a lot less pleasant. Getting to the ocean is a way to be free of both for a little bit.
The eye on the seam, that made me think: witnessing the before and the after; the one and then the other. And seeing it all as the whole thing.
well we all have to live here, it’s a tangle.
Ah , the sea…
where one thing touches another is a special place.
Hi Jude, still hoping to buy and join the forever zone, sent you an email through contact form here, but you may have been busy in the garden or not received it? Thank you, blessings from New Zealand
Hey, thank you, getting in touch…
You must worry about ticks too, especially with the longer grass.
That drawing of the mosquito has so much personality!
Yeah, ticks are a way of life here, honestly they are oddly absent this year.
Funny old drawings, they make me smile…
Mosquitos abound here in western Oregon, and they apparently find me quite tasty. The only thing I have found that repels them and which I don’t mind having on my skin is basil. I just rub a couple of basil leaves over any exposed skin and the mosquitos stay away.
They bite me right through my clothing , I need to remember to cover all of me, or as much as I can…
If you have any basil around, you might try it. Just go four stripes up your arms and legs (front, back and sides), dab a few places on your face and neck and see if it works for you. Plus, you will smell like an Italian kitchen, which is not bad.
Ha!
Such soft faces.
I echo B complex for mosquitos. They really don’t like it.
We had 90s earlier in the month but now we are having wonderful 80s. No awful humidity, thank goodness; we probably won’t see rain again until fall.
Hot and wet looks like what we’ll get.
you might want to consider OFF Botanicals plant-based
we use it for the kids who spend hours running through the
understory, it’s their joy
Yeah, that’s what I am using. NY mosquitoes don’t seem to care.
This morning an inch of snow here in the Rockies…looks like only my cucumber plants need to be replaced. We get spells of mosquitos and about eight years ago I increased my B vitamins during the spring and summer…and now they don’t like the way I smell..not one bite since that change. Climate change means so many things lately..not much snow in winter, lots in the spring and rain abundant this spring s we;re really green in the foothills. Wildflowers coming alive and should be bountiful this weekend…time for a nice long walk in the woods.
Love the eye in the piece shared today!!!
Gosh, if B works it would be amazing. They don’t bite my sin, no explanation…
I heard that there was some snow coming out there, got a brother in Idaho…
Interesting – here in Britain the further North you get, the more 🦟 there are….!
Probably has to do with the proximity to bodies of water. But up here in the mountains the increased cold is a big factor. But the climate is changing so who knows..
I love thunderstorms but lately ours have been severe and include tornadoes.
Yeah, the power of storms and sea, I love them and the risk is probably part of the thrill of making it through. I do fear the coming hurricane season…
It wasn’t that hot here, but hot enough! When the humidity moved in, I immediately crashed. Now going very slowly, waiting for the thunder. Rhu is inside, he’ll be the forecaster of when they are coming, though it’s getting breezier and dark. I like it! I imagine thunderstorms on your porch are something 🙂
Storms are great here and soul-o sits on my feet now instead of hiding under the bed
Progress!!
So glad you will be getting away from mosquitoes! Hopefully cooler too!
Who knows with this changing climate???
Just read Atlantic 84.7F, the usual August temp! Ugh! Wish my eyes as beautiful as yours, I always zero in, “oh I see add some pink!” 🤔😊
Circles can be faces, so there will be a lot to say about that.
Love the collage…mosquitoes and that much humidity, not so much.
Gotta love it all but it’s hard..
I could do without thunderstorms! Way too much lightning here. Alway lots of mosquitoes and no-see-ums here! I get big red welts from their bites.
The images look great together 💙
Warm and humid here, we haven’t hit 90s in temp here, YET, but certainly 90+% humidity and “skeeters” are abundant.
So are the flowers, and I’m grateful for that 💚🌸🏵️🌼
yes, it’s bloomin’
Too hot! Love the collage.
yeah, a bit over the top.
I am really into considering collage in a new way. and there are pieces scattered everywhere here, messy but it’s only me so it’s ok. Oh but not really, Soul-o loves it.
“It’s only May” says it all.
Gosh, Jude. You all are just as hot and humid as we are in Texas! Yesterday I noticed the mosquitos on my walk. So much rain. Did you see the Flower Moon last night? It awakened me at 3 this morning, scudding through the clouds, so I paid her homage.
it was too overcast here. But I felt her.
feels like august.
I thought July, yesterday. . .and I like thunderstorms, too.
