A Lighter Place

It feels a bit like May.

The ticks seem to think so too.

daffy day

Thyme expanding

Growing Thyme is the right decision here.  Green right through the winter.  The small bits that I separated and transplanted around all made it through. I've ordered some  seeds, the red creeping variety to replace any lawn that is left.  I need as much Thyme as I can gather.  Bees love it, ticks hate it and the place will smell great.  And. Less maintenance.

deeper pool of thought

There were a lot of loose things pinned to the cloth I call A Deep Pool of Thought. I emptied it . Now I might call it The Deeper Pool of Thought.  For a while.

Maybe I need an open air ritual.

  1. My thyme has done really well with the cold snaps and I am planting more…it’s a favorite herb. Need to start over with rosemary, again…

A pool is such a lovely place to rest.

no luck with rosemary here. I bring it in in winter and it never seems to survive the dry air.
I’m resting there in this pool.

Lemon thyme popping up here, I’m scared dengue will make it to breed on our humid coasts. I do love the tiny leaves of thyme.

  3. Oooo…. what a great pool of thought.
Thyme grows really well here in the forest, spreads around by itself, which I like. I don’t think I knew that ticks don’t like it, good to know!

  4. I have it growing here. It self sowed from a previous year and loves itself in a crack between cement and wood. It’s a culinary type and I put it in everything. Love the texture of the deep pool. Love ruching.
    Ticks already!?

Oh I didn’t know about thyme and ticks! I have some growing in my herb bed and it seems to thrive best on neglect. I have that stupid tick borne food allergy and am always looking for more ways to keep them out of my yard (besides getting chickens again, maybe someday…) I think transplanting it into the yard is a fantastic idea. And also, who doesn’t wish to grow more time? I’ve been doing some rushing this week, in a random meandering way. I like it in a shape like this, your large new moon pool.

Oh L love the thyme! So good for us too. And your deep pool of thought evokes for me the upcoming eclipses–lunar March 25 and solar April 8. It’s beautiful. Thank you.

Oh, I love Thyme! I’ve planted many kinds in my years as a gardener, but the only one that has lasted is the one planted in the cruellist place…poor soil, and blazing hot Texas sun.
Deeper pools and Open Air…I like the combination!
