A Darker Sun

Ding!

in space

I am convinced it is useful to be able to look at things differently.  From both "sides" is a beginning and then from every angle which is certainly more  enlightening.  Every voice is generated by new eyes.  If we could only respect that for what it is.  In ourselves. In others.  Oh what a party it might turn into.

I'm too old for bullshit.  I need a T shirt that says that.

A Darker SunAgain.   Obviously the eclipse is coming and my thoughts were already containing that.  The center component made months ago but I will get to all that.  Just gathering all my little loose patches  so I might begin sharing them in the kind of detail they deserve.   But a darker sun, and how that might change the concept of light and dark.  Just thinking.  What forms will emerge?

Inside Out nine

Nine for Inside Out is a self portrait.  I made it long ago and kept it here with me because I knew I might need it now and then.  It is pinned to another important work I call Organizing A Shift.

I just love your titles for your Pieces, Judith. And the eclipse is a perfect comparison to your “dark sun”. Looking at both sides in life experience is not easy but I love looking at both sides of your fabric, your creations.

How many times have I said “I’m too old for this nonsense”.
This is our dark time of year. The sun is not seen for days and sometimes weeks. Sometimes a glimmer of blue and now and then a sunny day. Spring and sunshine will come again and in a few months I’ll be complaining about too much sun and the darkness of winter will be forgotten like the pain of childbirth.

Looking at things from both sides…so difficult at times, often I try and recenter myself before going back to all those different sides and trying to be open to what is there. the Forever Zone will be such a wonderful place to return to in May! Hugs to you!!!

Our sun is dark, even hidden in the clouds  illuminated by its warmth. Give me truth over bullshit any day! Damn the treachery, trickery, or injustices. Excited for the calm of new class time.

“Too old for bullshit” – I’d wear that t-shirt too. Too old and too tired but can’t seem to escape it lately. Darker sun, indeed.

Oh Jude, those blocks are beautiful! The dark sun draws me in, and the basket sun just radiates! I experienced a total eclipse near my home in 2017 – it was amazing. The sky turned dark & it suddenly became very cold. I was in farm country, and the roosters started crowing & horses whinnied. Your dark sun brought back this memory. I think it’s good to experience new & different things, especially things that may shift our ideas about what is “normal”. Thanks so much for sharing, Jude! I’m looking forward to the class in April.

I could say it as you say it. Today I will say “I am too old for second rate compromise.” Because it leads to lower and lower compromises which lead to the kind of mess we see around us. But hey, today I am more a basket case than a basket sun. When I get some rest, I’ll tackle spring cleaning.

  8. Thinking about the season, how we are almost equal parts day/night. And then tilt, the angle changes… Yes, accepting that there are different perspectives would change our world….

    A darker son, indeed.
    (Pun intended)
Today I rejoice in sparkling dew and brilliant birdsong, yet I see the shadows.
I, too, am too old for the bullshit.
(Unless it’s for my garden compost)
    Hah!

A darker sun is right! The shadow sides, or the rat in my hat, while my face wears a sunny smile and sparkly eyes.

    Good tinkering!
