In Spirit Cloth Language, this would be the basket sun. I've not talked about this one much yet, since it has been evolving.
I note to myself, again today, that the log cabin format is also a kind of basket for me.
I stitched almost all night because the 60 mph winds here kept me awake.
Still blowin'.
No trees down, power still on.
Yay.
In May I will begin a new segment of teaching in the Forever Zone. Starting with personal symbols as components and how I create and use them in my story cloth. And then we will see what's next. Access can be purchased through the shop come April 1. For those of you already enrolled, your password remains the same. For those of you who have inquired and those of you who are unfamiliar, the Zone is just a private teaching space here that requires a password for the protected pages. Signing up gives you access to all teachings new and old. Forever. Don't ask me how long that will be. I will do my best to continue. Until I cannot.
I have been going through a few life changes here, so my presence might seem a bit thin. I have shifted from Free to Free Enough out of a sense of necessity. But it is and will be OK and I will share some story eventually. Right now I am not ready.
As Always, Thank You for your company and kind support...

Jude, I hope and pray you find inspiration to smile everywhere you look, and that life itself, all around you, comforts you and keeps your strength up. May your journey have lots of quiet rest stops. <3
I am looking forward to the class.
The edges are far enough away from the sun to offer a cooler place to be. Indigo is magic.
I am simply looking forward. I like your last words.
Sending love… Thinking about okay as good enough.
it is ❤️
I like the path around the sun.
Experiencing the winds of change can de daunting but as Buddha said there is no progress without change. Sometimes it just takes a while.
Life is a happiness challenge.
Love this basket weave sun…somehow the light simply radiates so very sun-like…a blinding quality in it…Spirit cloth language ….how well it communicates…and I am lucky to pick up a phrase or two when I can:).
Your sharing is kind and generous.
i love how it radiates from the holding…
The Winds of Change can be unkind…but they shake the Seeds free from the Olde, plant them in willing Soil, and yield great beauty. Thank you, Jude.
yes, the big wind today seems a strong message.
The development of a personal visual language is exactly what has been on my mind for months now. I think I know how to achieve it, mostly by just keeping going , right? But also finding a bridge between the art on paper that I used to do and the stitches on fabric that I do now. I’d love to hear more about how you got there (here).
So life changes are usually scary, stressful and uncentering events. Thank you for the continued motivation to teach us. Perhaps we are a welcome distraction. In the event that we are necessary in order to just keep going, I am happy to support.
yes, going and finding the use in that… paper to cloth and back is my next focus really. the bridges make the path even more exciting. At this point change is better than not. I have new eyes.
May the basket always hold you and give you what you need.
🧺💙
( Our weather was wicked at the end of last week– lightning, hail, torrential rain (4.5″!!)
I’m really wanting mild Spring…
gosh it is wild, I feel like Dorothy in the wizard of oz….
As my mother would have said, “changes are better than nothing.” Although there are times I might have argued with her, eventually it turned out she was right. Hang in there, Jude.
And your presence is never thin.
yes indeed, simply and beautifully stated.
I can see how the log cabin can be a sort of basket as it weaves in the stray piece forming a sort holding spot. Such a wonderful metaphor as we go along. Such a fitting description.
I imagine the spiral of weaving a basket.
Thinking about how the log cabin is so many things- the spiral in being a kind of holding and centering, or the movement out, that could continue forever. I have learned so much about just going and growing from you-letting go of the idea of knowing and learning to notice. Sending thanks and much love.
if we go together we can learn form each other. It is so simple really. One step at a time.
As I was teaching a workshop this past weekend, I realized I had been developing a new personal symbol in the use of a particular component and technique. I shared it with the group and was pleased to see how it was individualized and used in their own unique ways.
I appreciate how these things develop- often just growing from a small seed of thought.
Yes, I think it happens without our noticing sometimes. Over time.
My thoughts and prayers are with you… I love log cabin and made many quilts with it… One if my fav’s… Thanx for ideas I can use… Hugs
They have really helped me calm down.
Love the basket sun. CRAZY wind here, too, but not bad overnight, thankfully. Take care! 🧡
it’s wild!
