The sun came out yesterday. But it remained very cold.
I sat by the sunny window and thought about green. The aloe needs a new pot and I remember when my mother painted this rocker green. It was her mother's rocker. I used to spend some summer time visiting Nanny, and I remember when it wasn't green. Then I started thinking how green used to be blue and yellow. And I drifted off into a nap.
I knew it wasn't done .
Some snow expected later today. And through the week actually. But the warmth will win out this time. I sense it. The change has taken hold.

Feeling the sun on your back in early spring is such a delight! Felt it briefly the other day out in the garden. More clouds and rain with promises of sun in a couple of days.
Lots of snow expected in CA mountains this week. LOTS!
Inside here making practical cloth.
weather is a bit like people to me lately…
Thank you for reminding me — I have to repot the aloe. The poor thing was blown over and the pot broken in last weeks wind storm. I feel the change, too; we are heading into Spring and lots of green.
this aloe is a piece that broke off from a larger plant years ago…
there’s something about dappled light entering thru a window… creating shifting patterns. especially on patchwork. another dimension. never really pondered before how green used to be blue ‘n yellow. the alchemy of color. a reminder that yes, every thing is really soooooooo amaaaaaazing…
and how one thing becomes another…
I love this beast so much. To carry the sun on your back…I can feel that. Well, to carry or have near all you need – sun, moon, star…all with you, all you need, enough. To have things be this uncomplicated. This cloth represents so much to me at this moment in time. Thank you.
I am thinking about all we come to carry
Yes plants and people are definitely perking up. Birds are out there singing with the earlier sunlight. I’ve been traipsing out most every day since early February to check for ephemerals. The snowdrops (much earlier this year) drew me out and they have been joined by the winter aconites and crocus. Those are the only flowers actually blooming but little green spears of various things are pushing up as well. Oh so encouraging!
They are a kind of new breath.
Sewing those rays onto a new sun so it will win out tomorrow, stitch-magic. Enough snow has melted around the house to reveal the sparkling green, wet moss.
The moss is astoundingly beautiful this year.
Everything is in a state of Emergence. 💚
Even Beast. 🤩
Perhaps that is so much always true. Form is temporary.
Sitting in the rocking chair that was one of my great grandmothers right now. It’s my favorite place to sit…the cats too. There is still a forecast for snow mixed with rain, or not, for the next week. It’s what I call “teaser snow.” 🙂
March almost, March has such personality.
Pretty sure it’s coming in like a lion. 🙂
Post and comments all feeding into the flow of this day, this beautiful, early spring day. Grateful!
Beast is looking amazing 💙
I’m satisfied
Green! And bright Yellow! The colors of Spring. Reminds me of the joy of kindergarten art, with big sheets of blank paper propped on an easel, with the most wonderful prime colors of paint and those big paint brushes for tiny, eager hands…
Art is a miracle, like Nature.
everything is really so amazing.
