Almost December

December is becoming a new kind of marker for me since we moved here. Almost 4 years (!)  ago.  Time flies so quickly now, I have taken to floating, it seems softer, like time travel. Losing track just seems to enhance the journey.

memory washes over me

I've been working on paper.  And there could be so much to say about that. But I haven't been giving it words.  I've just been gathering  feelings.

reframing

This morning they spilled over.  And I might find some words.

watching

Soul-o and I play follow the sun these days. It'll be spring before we know it.

The lemon seed I planted this past summer has become a small tree.

a sense of warmth

Four years and I have still not washed the windows.

Still below freezing.

love the see-thru-ness of watercolors. and the reassurance that lemons (‘n possibly avocados!) can be grown indoors. we’ll soon be movin’ from central to northern california, so eager to experiment. happy nanahood!

  2. I think different kinds of making is important and I hope you keep going with the paper. 🙂 It’s on my to-do list to wash the windows when it warms up. It’s been longer than 4 years…

I love your art, but I must say, Soul-o himself, is also a work of art. And I’m jealous of your lemon tree. I’ve tried with Meyer lemon seeds and they sprout but then peter out. I may try again but bring it inside the next time.

They sprouted easy but I lost a lot of them. The ones I put outside did not do well. I kept this one on the porch and I paid attention to ,seems OK. There is another small one that isn’t growing as fast. Fingers crossed.

So talented in painting, sewing, and writing and a beautiful cat, too. No wonder you have no time to wash windows :-). I’m doing good just to get the spider webs down.

Swallowing the Sun & Singing with the Moon in her throat…always love your drawings. 🙂
The lemon tree has done so well! Enjoy the season, this time with the Man, family and Soul-o…and the world all around. xo

Beautiful images. I feel a children’s classic being born, with sun, moon, sky, clouds, cat…..some growing leaves. All floating by…

  7. seeing your paintings I can’t help recalling that you once aspired to be a children’s book illustrator … I do hope some bookmaking for Bruno is in both your futures

Your paintings cheer me up❤️. I have a lemon tree that produces several lemons every year. And it invariably dies almost completely back. Outside it goes for the summer(Vermont). I added some worm castings from our composting worms and it is green and full and flowering now. The lemons are delicious. 🍋

Your illustrations just thrill my heart!
Still chilly here ( light frost this a.m.)
Soul-O is such a handsome guy…my kitties and I follow the sun too ( well, sometimes they spend hours snug in their beds– you know, during the day🙄 so they have plenty of energy for night-romping, ha!)
I’ve been making Christmas garlands w felt for gifting…tis the season!
But I’m already dreaming of Spring, ha ha!
    I think I need another flowerbed……

these are unfinished but I am beginning to see them as bases.
the windows here are hard to get at and also under overhangs so rain isn’t helping, ha, but it’s ok.. my eyes don’t notice much.
