Yeah so, what if I don't finish the edges?
I picked this old cotton/silk ikat for the inside, ikat reminds me of fire. The flame like patterns. So the fire inside I was thinking. And well that ragged edge makes the burnin' more apparent.
I named it Consciousness Rising, an Omen Roll. Keeper of the needles that need to stay threaded.
More snow coming. I'll bring in some wood.

I just made something similar for DP knitting needles. The sweater for Dean is coming along nicely but the needle chaos was driving me crazy. Love this!
Jude, I love ragged edges….yours here are lovely. Ragged edges are imperfection on purpose….an intentional choice.
Well I don’t know, I think they are perfect.😂
I’ve grown to love ragged edges.
me too…
Just magical Jude, as always.
cloth makes me feel free.
Raw edge, ragged, fringe. Who gets to decide what’s finished or not…..
sometimes our sense of finished is simply habit.
Who decides what gets hemmed and what doesn’t?
The creator of the work.
Done and dusted.
indeed, sometimes about need and the nature of the cloth and use.
the raw edges remind us that cloth is at essence (root meaning: “be”), a weaving. very elemental. the 2nd pic, a flower. loooooove ikat! just got a book on it. may the flames ignite our consciousness!
Yes. the cloth. the story in the cloth.
Jude~ This is beautifully wonderful! Raw burning, creative. Love it.
makes me want to weave
it’s beautiful Jude! and I appreciate the raw edges so much. maybe we all have a few raw edges these days.
Maybe always…
Good morning, Jude.
The fringe of the raw edges are like the small flames and glow of a banked fire. How lovely to open to find threaded needles. Ready to stitch, bits and pieces of well loved cloth into life. Something from nothing, to live again, to be useful, have purpose. Too feel that in ones own life. Each prick of the needle, mending and patching, bringing old to new.
Blessings for a wonderful weekend.
Pat
yes to all your thoughts…
Love the raw edges and the fact that it’s looking at you. Can “ keep your needle threaded” be a sewers greeting like the cyclists say “ keep the rubber side down”? I might start using that.
Keep your needle threaded. Yes I have just started finishing my stitching by threading the needle ready for next time! Keeps it safe and makes starting smooth.
Encourages going. Be prepared!
yes, and a great metaphor for the times…
Gorgeous. Love that gold!!
let there be light!
That bright weft, so beautiful…
that cloth is so gorgeous
Love it!
it reminds me of the importance of a soft edge
Love it Jude!
💙
the ragged edge made me love it more.
Yes, leave the ragged edges please’!
Stay cozy.❤️🔥
I can relate really.
Cozy as a bug in a rug.
It’s beautiful just the way it is!
yes, it can work just fine
I’m with you on ragged edges!
they are in a way, a story of how the cloth is made…
I love that you left the edges ragged, just right. It’s beautiful.
it just worked so well here and I love how ragged edges work just fine anyway.
mountain living = snow. between us is a lot of space and two mountain ranges. north of the adk’s is open and windswept. funny how winter hit late, hard and fast. now our snow is gone, none in the forecast. i’m grateful i don’t heat with wood, never thought i’d say that.
your needle roll is really cool.
I do like the wood as an option. I have the mini split now and only use it when I’m tired, ha!, There is so much wood here and it’s free.
So beautiful!
and useful
Yes, a very special needle-keeper! (for sacred work)
they are so handy and fun to unroll.
It’s beautiful. I’ve never been able to get myself to pre-thread a bunch of needles. But if I had a needle-keeper as special as this?
I mostly do that with back and white because I use them so much for magic…
