It's been snowing and raining and snowing on and off all week. This morning was really cold and I was bitching while dragging the trash can out to the road at daybreak. But then I shut myself up and stopped for a moment as the sun rose over the icy landscape.
The alternating freeze and thaw had created some amazing effects.
I had gravel spread on the driveway because the holes were a driving nightmare. But small puddles still form.

Ohhh love that beautiful ikat strip that you use as backing for the new needle case !!!
P.s. and that face in the icy puddle . . . 🙂
Yes, a favorite!
leave it too you to find something wonderful in this cold weather. I walk a couple miles each day now that I’m retired and there is so much to see that I didn’t pay attention to before. a needle roll is a great idea.
It’s a new pla e for me too so there is so much to catch my eye.
I store everything rolled, my towels my clothes.
Wow (((Jude))) that’s looking very cold yet so beautiful, good that your cottage is cozy ! Had to recover my pincushion recently and found so many “lost” & broken needles inside!
Yes, that happens to me too. I found a few in the chair cushion!😵💫
When we were kids my brothers and I raced to get to puddles like that to see who could get there first so we could crack them. The really big frozen ones were mini ice skating rings. Now I just appreciate them when they happen…
Oh, I remember that game.
The first picture as I open this post… made me realize how much I miss winters. True changes from autumn to the first snow and then the deep snows and deep cold.
I truly believe it was no coincidence, but that you were meant to be out at that moment, looking down at your frozen puddles, and discovering Natures Art Show!
Yeah was stopped in my tracks
Your photography is amazing. What a view! I’m looking forward to the silvery light of winter. I have made so many needlekeeps for friends and family and I have one my mom made me and also one I made for myself. There is something pleasing about a piece of handwork that also is has a job. Have you considered Canva or Squarespace? Just a thought.
Thanks for the post.
Yeah, useful is beautiful.
I’ll muddle through with wordpress.
Ooh what beauty …..cold beauty
Grrrr on wordpress
Winter is beautiful here.
Technology, yuck.
I see a face in the left icy patch… she’s speechless 😶
and the right on a little bird in the center.
I remember seeing your needle roll 💙 and the new piece is amazing 💙💙💙
Stay safe and warm 🔥🐈⬛
Yes, the face!
The thing I admire the most is your imagination!Today is a very good day just started a small indigo vat and found one of your old playlists on u tube.So happy!
It’s fun to play with thoughts!
I love the picture with the peddles, water & snow. Very inspiring!
Thank you for sharing.
What a morning!
First frosty nights ahead here. I am thankful for the warmth of the fire, the stillness that cold weather brings and the time if have to look at you stitched pieces.
Feels like you have arived home. I sure hope so
I guess I need to be home.
to be ‘n see in a certain spot at a specific time. how photography captures that moment. as do your words. masterful storytelling! that 2nd landscape appears quite “weaverly”…
It’s nice to just stop and be amazed.
Oh! How I love Sunshine and Ice! Some say the World will end in Fire, some say in Ice. What say you?
Humans!
WordPress….. Seemingly there is less tech dependability. So many “layers” of involvement are shifting, all out my control or understanding. So I can only try to not lean toward dependance. Everything is more fragile than I viscerally knew. Mentally I sort of did, but now the experience is constant.
“Keep on Smiling” is my new mantra, it carries me on, mostly smiling.
big love.
It’s peaking, the mess, I’ll have more to say about that.
I looked at your pieces in the pictures above of your stitchwork and I realized I’m making meditation scrolls very much akin to what you’re doing. and looking at yours that way expands my thinking about the meditation scrolls, so thank you for that!
We are all on the same journey…
Every season has it’s magic if we have the eyes to see it and I am glad you did!
Beautiful stitching happened here, love it, love all the blues and the favorite is the rising consciousness!!!!
Love the rolled up pin and needle holder version, as you unroll it out you will have eyes looking at you! 😍Perfect reminder to rise.
I think it’s gonna be cool as something useful
Jude~ Those ice puddles are a real treat, as is the icy cold sunrise.
The freeze was so beautiful.
Fascinating puddle formations.
I love the idea of a pins and needle keeper as a roll rather than a book. I’m inspired. My current keeper is a triangle of felt.
Jana~ Ha. I use old bits of Warm & Natural batting 🙂
There are so many ways. The arm of the upholstered chair works 😂
Jude~ Or the couch! 🤣
😂
Do I change my mind or does it change itself and I have to adapt? 🙂
I dunno. Love the eyes peeking over the edge and the 1/2 face.
It’s all change I guess
What’s happening with WordPress?
I don’t know, I was having trouble loading pics and getting lots of error messages. And my post draft disappeared. I’ll sleep on it.
Ugh. Sounds frustrating.
