Reconsidering Hollowed Out

So I began to  work a bit more.

Weaving some cloth into the top portion, cutting into is always a thrill for me.

And the face, well, this is a me tree.

But hollow out,  kept thinking about it.   I looked it up.

...Form by making a hole...

So I love and live for new form,  what if I think of it as something personally positive? I think about context and how important that is in a story.

And then I found this as I read further through the definition...

Scoop out, deprive (an institution or system) of elements that enable it to function properly. And that just fit to the day.

I began this post this morning but it was windy and wild and warm and I just  sawed kindling all day. Left my phone inside.  A glorious day.

And I found this.

    Good morning Jude,
What a wonderful thing to find! A special window, for a Variety of things to place behind the opening.
I could see one of your moon faces looking back at anyone looking through the opening or maybe a magic feather. There are so many different things that could spark the imagination. Changing it from time to time
It could become a game for your grandson. What’s behind the hole this time ????
What a wonderful pass time you two could share.
    Blessings from Ohio.

That looked to me like the end of a fence rail, hollowed out to fit the post? Or the end of the post, waiting for the rail to be slid in…

And yr piece of wood the shape of a house with a chimney and a hole for a door. So much to see and think about, the possibilities of all of that, a hole as a door…..thank you.

I like considering how this hollowing happened, a bit of perfect imperfection…..a portal to possibilities. There’s no end to this hollowed space. I like the possibility of not knowing, until one moves through the hollow.

It rained and poured here all day yesterday…lots of sun this morning. When I think of a hollow I think of all the space to put new things in. And all the possibilities

finding that hollow after stitching one… the conversation between what we make ‘n the world around us… do the questions we ask create “holes” in the unseen realm that seek to be filled? love the way the basket holds the woven patchwork…

A portal! I find hope and adventure with such wood forms! Down by the Lake I found a knothole~~olde, wizened~~I brought it home and attached it to my cornhusk wreath, like looking within, within!

  8. Beautiful, warm-ish day here as well. Still some glorious red maple leaves and lots of gold birch leaves. I collect a lot of those pieces of wood… and one like that I’d fill with either an owl from paper clay or something, or an old, wise woman’s face. Hollowing out is also needed when creating a vessel.
