Dear Jude, stay inside and wear a mask if you stand it some hours a day, I know you are absolutely prepared, but take care!

I am so sorry you and so many are dealing with this now. I am on the west coast and have been spared severe smoke conditions for the past 2 years. I noticed a smoky sky a few days ago from the big fire in our mountains right now, when the wind shifted.

2021 and 22 were the worst years with smoke from Canada. We are so close. In 2021 the temps were in the high 90s, small ac unit for one small room and the smoke so bad everyone was warned to stay inside for a week. We would occasionally turn on our vacuum cleaner that had a filter in it to screen out some of the smoke that still came inside.

The sky was brown, the sun fiery red.

Yes we have done this to ourselves, and folks who deny global warming help cause it to persist.

We are doing our best, adding more solar panels, getting rid of oil heating and the propane stove top. I miss cooking with gas, but it is one small thing we could do.

Here in Nova Scotia it’s so dry that we have a province wide fire ban; all trails are closed, and no one is allowed in the woods. $25,000 fines enforced. We have no fires or smoke so I think it’s the proper thing to do.

Jude~ Ugh. These days are so rough. I’m sorry you and Soul-O are going through this. I think we are at a ‘moderate’ AQ level due to the fire in Central CA (the Gifford fire, up to almost 96,000 acres). I can usually tell by how tight my chest is. I hope you are not having any breathing issues.
These days. What more can we say?

  5. makes for a great photo but not so good for breathing. We drove through the midtown tunnel yesterday and it was filled with smoke. We were afraid it wasn’t the Canada smoke but something from inside the tunnel. But it was Canadian smoke settling below the river. If I wasn’t driving I would have taken pictures too. Always something. . .

It has been bad here in northern Michigan all summer but the last week to 10 days it’s been every day and heavy. My poor cat is coughing even with the windows shut and air on. Try and stay inside with the windows shut. Turn on fans to keep the smoke from collecting in one place. This is my fourth year with it so I feel for you.

I think it’s clearing here in NE Ohio, but we were also slower to get it where I am. It stayed along the lake when it first arrived.

My kingdom for fresh air!! Believe it or not, some of that smoke seems to have drifted to North Texas…not a lot, but just enough to give the almost-Full Moon a pinkish hue, and a bit of congestion for me.
The gods should be 😡 angry, what we’re doing to our beloved Earth.
