Letting it go

I did some thinking.

Now I am going with the idea of  the Soft Edge of Promise. (I'll call it that)

That I might ruin it by trying to keep it from evolving.  To Keep. To Promise. I am thinking about these things.

I might consider promise not  as a hard edged limitation.  But as a  commitment to understand how one thing might become another.

That might make it bigger.

( I may have forgotten to mention the circle was done using my double running stitch)

Ok going with that.  Keeping that Promise to myself, at least.

I tried something new.

I'll stare at it for a while.

I am continuing openly with this slow, step by step explaining/teaching on this cloth project as practice for a new slower pace for what I will call project pages for the Forever ZoneJust to see how it goes and also because my video upload is so slow right now, I'm in a more low tech mode.  It's being worked on, there are some issues here that need repair and attention. Honestly the lack of technology has been good for me.  Feels more like the real world.  So let me follow through on this one here on the blog.  For those of you signed up for private pages, the base I am working on was created by the method I call Seeming.  And probably in the next few weeks I will set up a gateway for Project Pages.

I'm trying to get back to the Moon for shop updates, but for now there is a random dribble without too much attention to announcement.  I'll be floating through July with the hope of getting some stuff done on the house and cabin  because it will be cold again soon enough. That's the way it goes.

  1. I can understand what you’ve said about mixed-media in the past, but I always pictured stiff paint and tons of buttons or other trims…this feels different, almost like organized dying…soft and moving. I really like it, just the adding a bit of color and having the lines still show.
Those are the pencils I use, but rarely with water and not really on fabric. I guess I have room to expand and play, eh?!

  2. the faint colouring effect looks great; get why you’re hesitant about mixing the media, but hey what’s the worst that can happen……right??

personally I embrace limitations, forces me to rethink or unthink even

and for anything to really work I have to take the plunge and risk ruining a piece, can always start a new one;-)

expansion of the mind is good

I suppose I haven’t been a fan of how mixed media forms seem to get too busy. But I can consider that as I work.
Limits are good too, I need them as a reference point for a while but then I like to stray, ha!
Ruin might be simply be perspective.

The bleeding/going effect is great. I forgot about using those pencils on cloth…Am I remembering right that ironing sets the color?

yes, I think they might be perfect for you.
Yes the heat helps set the color. I am still experimenting to see what quality they offer.

I realize, Jude, that one of the things I value each day, seeing your creativity on display, is tuning in to your design elements…..noticing that particular black and white circle, the hearts with degrees of varied color, the softness of your background cloth, and your two cloud like designs that draw my eye. I look forward each day to this kind of noticing and to feeling. It enriches each day.

That’s beautiful, Jude! I love those soft hearts. I’ve been dealing with my stash of art materials, too . . . I know that it is a big source of inspiration for me, but there is a lot of it! I love when I come across something that I never (or rarely) used and it turns out to be perfect for the moment! I used to keep re-organizing, over & over . . . but now I’m living with my art stuff more gently, giving it lots of respect and just pulling things out that are calling to me. It’s a process, isn’t it? So glad it is July. Thanks for sharing your art & life with us!

I find the bleed of the hearts a release from restriction. I like the bleed it is like a halo or a promise.
The bleed beyond the actural stitching could feel as an ease into the other side.
Don’t have those type pens in my arsenal.. Time to Explore!
Seems like we always have outside projects.. that tug at our time.
I loved seeing your fabric stash….wish mine was that organized!
    Thank You! Jude

I like the soft edge, and I’m trying to do that more.
Yes, On using what we already have! I’ve been doing that for several years now and it feels great!
Maybe add some pink thread dots on the drawn line of your hearts might look and feel nice.
Have a better day than yesterday is my mindset lately 😁

It’s like a Valentine to self
    I like it!
( The edges of the shibori pattern look like scalloped lace now, with the soft pink hearts)

I too have inktense pencils I’ve never opened bought years ago for cloth drawing. Time and fear I guess. I’m too old for fear now too much stuff to be used. I need to get a wiggle on. 😂. Love the softness of the hearts and edges. Have a wonderful day Jude.

We get so much stuff, I too did not do much with them. At this point I just want to see what happens. Something always does. Ha!

Yes, July was always truly summer vacation especially back when I was in school. Playing is a kind of floating in a stream.
