a Flood of Sorts…

Way too much rain.

And really, no end in site.

lovely weather for ducks

Forever can be a gift

And way too much of the undone.

I actually tried a video this morning, imagine that, With this stupid phone video app, that leaves its logo in the corner.Ā  I don't care, I got some thoughts out... perhaps awful videos are better than none at all. Sorry about the ads, I give up trying to block them...

rise up and think outside the box

And then a torrent of ideas on paper.Ā  The sun came out in my mind, That will work.

Reading Jude is a good way to start the day, yes. And I’m down for passion in place of hobby. Hobby is small, pinched whereas passion is blooming, growing, opening. As always, thanks Jude for your thoughts and views. As 80 looms around the corner I’m dealing with some challenging medical news here (who isn’t at some level) so keeping going is my thought as well, differently, but still going.

  2. Not done, that’s the way to be! There is so much to do and explore. šŸ™‚ We are having less rain than usual and the worry is more drought than usual.

Sister lives in a drought zone and they ration water. Much harder indeed. But the ā€œnot done,ā€ is positive. Mum’s motto, ā€œkeep going?ā€ Remembering mums. ā¤ļø

Water is so important. It gurglws up out of the ground here even with no rain.
I’m feeling good about not done.
Mom was a positive in my life.

I enjoy starting my day with you. Yes, keep going. One foot in front of another; one stitch after another.
I’m envious of your rain. All our green ha turned to brown.

  5. Grateful for this rich, thought-full post. I like the strength of your conviction that you are NOT DONE. It’s truly a gift to have creative work to sustains us, and that we don’t want to “retire” from. I’m noticing my contemporaries as we enter our 60’s and retire, that those of us with creative practices have threads to follow to keep us going, engaged, and thoughtful. I have a few friends who are floundering as they leave structure and are responsible for their time themselves after years and years of preordained schedules – since kindergarten, really! If they’re not gardeners, or have other passions (I despise the word, “hobby,” for some reason), to put their energy into, it can be a bit tricky for some.
I look forward to seeing more of Jude on paper, as I guess I’m more fluent in that language (?). For now, another day of rain and gloom, yeah, it’s starting to drag me under, too.

  6. Jude~ The extremes! We are usually so, so dry. Concerningly so. The thunderstorm of the other day was such a treat and the plant world looks happy from that.
The stitched star looks so stretchy šŸ™‚ I mostly do not remember what I was thinking or what I dyed with & when. I do however remember some strong moments with the Hearts Sampler (from your workshop) I recently pulled back out.
And the ‘paper’ work knocked me over! I love it. I especially noticed the 9 patch of rocks, one with a lil shadow. We’ve been very into watching geology videos and looking at rocks and hillsides on our walks.
However we keep going, it is good to just do so. xo

I like big storms, but the slow drip drip drip gets to me.
The cloth is so thin, it encouraged me to let things wobble.
I like how memories are mixed in with new thoughts, I will just go with that and see what happens.
Samplers could be fun again too. Got boxes of old loose paperwork, I will begin , one by one, see what’s there.

I totally understand the feelings that too much grayness can bring. For almost 3 decades, I lived in the “rainforest” of the Pacific Northwest. It took me a few years, but I finally started sitting by a full spectrum light for 1/2 hour in the morning when I got up, and it was a game-changer for me. It gave me energy and allowed me to function even when there was very little light outside. On the positive side, all that rain gives us all that beautiful green! Love what you are doing with your stitched piece & on paper.

we do adjust, right? I think it’s my old eyes that have made it worse lately. Maybe though, a message to rest and slow down…
Yes, the green is so great, I’ll focus on that. The dandelion greens are as high as an elephant’s eye.

Oh, you are right about rain vs drought! We are reveling in the Spring thunderstorms here…I swear I hear the Coneflowers singing…and last night I saw one—just one!— firefly. I followed it until its blink was lost in the Night!
Of course, you’re not done! Love both the stitching and the art piece. Carry on!

Big storms here late last night, just over 2.5+ inches of rain(& the mosquitoes are awful this year!)
I, too, have lots of unfinished stuff that has gathered over the years, and like you, started on paper, and am no where near “done”!!
Continuing, “just going”, is a good thing šŸ˜€
(& I dislike grey, gloomy days!!)

Lots of thunderstorms here last night too! I’m sleep deprived but glad to see the out šŸŒž
    Love the drawing šŸ‘€
