The Reappearing

I've been reading ( imagine that) Cloud Hidden by Alan Watts. 1974 edition, it was my father's book.

season is a thread

I found this old paper work while attempting to unpack and organize a place to continue on paper.  It never had a name and it has inspired a thought, something like Season is a Thread.

paper nook

The rooms here are small and shaped like pieces of pie.  It's been a challenge to arrange things, especially furniture.  Built in things are easier.  I'm using the walls to gather the paper work of others, buried in a pile for too long.

I used a paper cutout to create a pattern for yesterday's beast.  I traced around it with a sharpie, transferring the image to clothThere was paper underneath to catch the bleed.  It left a constellation style  image.  I liked it so much. It seems a big part of my story.  Connecting the dots of self.

I am there, although I couldn't find me.

I added a little definition with pencil.  This is how I feel, slowly redefining self and lightly going. The need for lightly being.   I managed to get a lot of stuff done in the last year. But I neglected  myself in ways I've not found words for.  I'm feeling better with only some annoying digestive issues left over as a side effect of antibiotics.  Another week should do it and I'll be back to what I might refer to as normal.

Keeping myself company is a new skill.

Great paper space, and I love the constellation . . . the energy is flowing, so good! Thanks for mentioning the Alan Watts book . . . I’m just finishing The Snow Leopard by Peter Matthiessen (love it!) – a spiritual journey book from the same era (1978). I was wondering what to read next . . . now I know. Thanks so much for sharing everything, Jude!

so much “going” in this story cloth… the beasts. the feathers. love the way the front half of the first beast ‘n the back half of the last beast are hidden from view. a circular path, perhaps… feels like the middle beast is laughing. she feels quite strong ‘n “centered”. very connected to the earth ‘n home…

  3. At the mention of pie, I saw a piece of pie – the filling made of fabric scraps, threads, bits of writings and papers, an eye, and other things visible in the slice. All mixed with the glue of love and experience of life (and a few cat hairs!).
A crescent moon cut in the top crust.
    Ha!

The accidental creation of the constellation beast is so perfectly part of the healing and seeing and starting anew, dot by dot. Thanks for sharing the unfolding of your nest as it gets decorated with, and only with, what suits you.

    Greetings Jude
    I love Leonard Cohen’s music .. always have .
I too love your little nook .. a little space with all those pens & brushes 😊🌸Keeping your own company for me is a work in progress 🌞🌻big hugs & love xx

  6. Jude~ What a treasure trove your little nook is! A slew of pencils & watercolors – just waiting! A flipping-rolling phone book or a flip-animated art story circle…a dovetailed wood box (love dovetailed work) and a cigar box – holding and holding still…a short window with a great view and a garden bench!…a blue canning jar (I used to have those!) what is inside…a pickle? heehee
Then the Constellation Beast and the Compass Beast and learning new skills, along with a thread of seasons…so much here in just this small space of a post. I could look for a long long time. So glad you are getting healthy and circling back around to yourself and something new too.

Aw, I love knowing this 🙂
Plus, I could not for the life of me think of the word “rolodex”. I kept landing on Rolex. haha
There is something about cigar boxes.

    Well, HELLO!
It is good magic to reimagine and emerge as one’s self again, isn’t it?
I’m so glad you are on the way again!

You’re on … I feel the connection. Your old paper work is wonderful … I love the work place of the artist. The beast is amazing, the little tongue emanating is frightening lol
Sending healing wishes, so good you’re back on track.

  11. Great little creative nook. I spy one of my older pieces. I recognize it, didn’t realize it had gone to you! And, yes, keeping oneself company is definitely a skill.
