B

B can be for Berries this chilly (again) morning. The cardinals will be so happy.  Everyone pulls the Pokeberries.  They are everywhere here.  This one is like a tree and it grows right at the outside corner of the garden. I can see it from the porch.  I love that Because  I can watch the birds enjoy. Some folks dye with them.  The plant itself is toxic to humans.  I take that as a message and leave it be.

Brown,  B is for brown.  The walnut brew is like syrup.  No heating , just an overnight dip.  I might just  bottle it up and take it with me.  I added a bit of vinegar to discourage mold.

And just yesterday evening, I fiddled with a Joodle that was not working.

better.

So B can also be for Boundaries,  and crossing those lines.  Becoming. The story became clear. And I feel it.

I love that you are using the structure and or the ritual of the alphabet right now. I love the alphabet used in unique ways. I have a mixed media book of techniques and other musings called Alphabetica, I love having something like the alphabet to use as a beginning.

The pokeberries are truly glowing with their deep berry color and their glowing, florescent pink stems. Wow! I see tiny white hearts or parts of hearts surrounding each berry stem. Delightful musings, Jude. Thank you.

I love this post too. Jude’s musings and everyone’s reponses made a wonderful ending to my day. Busy packing here for my move Sept. 5th. I have been collecting onion skins and avacado pits and they are going with me. I have an improved
situation for fabric-stitch & dye play.

B is for Butterflies. I seldom see one anymore.
Poke is edible if prepared correctly by peeling the young shoots and boiling them in a couple changes of water. I remember having it at my grandma’s house many many years ago. Fortunately it doesn’t grow here so I don’t feel compelled to fix it.

This post..that bit of exploring the alphabet ,,,just make my heart sing…walnut take along, yes, yes…and the joodle just jangles ….. berries for birds not humans…a delightful gist to watch. Thanks for making my early day be filled with delight, so very often.

Magical moments…times around the edges with a quiet sadness. ((Hugs)) Do take that magic brew with you. It will give a bit of continuity on your new journey. These threads are important…

  7. B is for brew. Love the brown base. I need to go check my walnut dye bath, give it a good stir and maybe add some more water. I plan on coloring outside the lines today…

There must be magic in your walnut pot, I wouldn’t blame you for bottling that to go. Is it many years old? With all those tannins, will it mold?

I love the going outside of lines…proof that there is more! Love brown walnut brew…its own mordant, and natural as can be. Have you ever dyed with Goldenrod? I’d like to try that.
