And Summer Closes in

Hello from the Jungle.

greener than green

a coolingSo. There has been stitching but I have to say, this weather has me pretty much in a coma.  Hotter than hot and now more humid than seems possible.   (Summer Bitch is emerging)  I have not even entered the garden in a week. I see the paths closing in, but it is ok. Everything is growing wildly, the birds and bees are happy and there is clover blooming everywhere and it smells like honey.

The edibles are in there somewhere.  4 years of composting has made a huge difference.  Still in the middle of this heat dome with another week or so  it looks like but over all it will be a much hotter summer.

I sat with a sun cabin yesterday.  Trying to cool it down a bit.  Blue is good for that. I am not sure I'm done.

  1. I’m with you on the heat ick.
It hasn’t arrived here yet so I’m trying to get certain things done before it does.
Hope everyone suffering with it has the resources needed to get through.

Love the sun on blue – very cooling and we are freezing in Oz. All so extreme.

I was wondering how I might contact you with a question about your shop.

Stay as cool as you can xxx

Extreme, I think we will need new words soon, but then I guess that’s how words evolve.
There is a contact link in the sidebar here and also a get in touch link in the sidebar of the shop.
Big storms cooled it down overnight.

Summer bitch here too. I hate being held prisoner by the a/c. We’re cooling down to 101 today, not that I notice any difference. Our humidity is only 21%; more comfortable but more fire danger. Your clover field is beautiful as is your summer sun.

  4. So much clover, love it! I turned the a/c off yesterday because it wasn’t too hot, but the humidity was wicked. Might have to go back into the a/c bubble and shut myself off from the birds and forest, which I don’t love, but I gotta function a bit. Take care.

Just moved into a place in the suburbs. Intimidatingly tall trees hover over me, but they sure do keep it relatively cool. I’ve managed with only ceiling fans so far, and big breezes are blowing through this morning. Thanks for the reminder–off to make iced coffee for later.

What a blessing to have a garden with birds and critters. How lovely for you. The cicadas are buzzing here in central Florida. Good size gator lounging by the pond. Lazy days.

Yeah, the trees can be a blessing but in last night’s storm, very scary.
Iced coffee is now for me, not sure why, I guess I have never felt this hot. I am doing cold brew overnight so I don’t have to boil water.

  6. 70 degrees by 6:00AM, it will be hot today, but you may still be hotter (who woulda thunk it?!) and thankfully, we are a dry heat. It is utterly, perfectly still outside, nary a movement or slightest flicker of a leaf…nothing. A large crow/raven walks across the parking structure roof, feet clacking loudly. Already feels like a long day ahead.

      • I can barely imagine the humidity! Or the amount of green that feels so closed in. We marvel when it is green. We say, “Look how green the hills are!” But, those hills are far off and there is usually big, blue skies too (although today we have air quality/heat alerts).
You last pic had me singing Crimson & Clover 😁 “over and over”

The deep blues always feel cooling. Aren’t colors amazing!
It’s always so humid here. I did a small amount of work in the neglected garden and came in drenched like I’d been under the sprinkler. It’s yucky and makes me a bitch too. Hugh would ask what my excuse is for the rest is the year though. 😉

  7. Laughing…in this state “edibles” means only one thing anymore and it isn’t a vegetable or fruit. 🙂 Blue does always seem best for cooling, although a 5 year old reminded me recently that it is the hottest fire…

Oh ha! I think there might be some of that in there too!
And oh no, you’re right, and it gonna be hotter today… or is it white hot, but that won’t work either. I need to laugh, thanks!

I also have woods that are approaching the house.. everything out of
control when it comes to growth. I keep thinking it will die away with the heat. Pears on the tree are ripening .. the tree is at least 13 years old and these pears are the first that I will be able to pick (birds usually get them first).
Heat and humidity cause me to shelter inside with the A/C.
    Almost feels likes entrapment..
Wishing for a cool breeze and refreshing rain for all!
Oh .. Each of us enjoy you messages Jude!

Yeah, the growth is overwhelming except the gypsy moth caterpillars totally cleaned the leaves off the oaks. I am avoiding the AC as much as possible but it’s there when I feel near death…😂

Couldn’t sleep, up early, sitting on the screened porch with a fan oscillating coolish air (it’s all relative, yah?) on me and the cats (who lay about on their backs, trying to cool their tummies)
I need to finish my “Garden Self” so I can move on to other stitching…
And water the garden— “Alberto” sucked all the rain with him to Mexico.
Seems like work in this heat…
I love your cooling blue sun!

I thought is would be scorched here, but daily thunderstorms have drench us. We even got some hail! But not enough to do any damage. I think today will be the worst of it…
