out of balance

Here it comes.

Not really looking forward to this. There are wildfire warnings here, Imagine that.

heat dome

And I'm sick.  Haven't had a cold like this in years. Head cold , now chest cold.  So awful I even did one of those at home Covid tests,  but no, just sick.

I don't get sick much, only when I am off balance.  So. In the spirit...I began quilting Balancing Act. As always I begin from the center. No plan, just holding it together.

a soft beginning

I make a note to myself, that most folks work with a more spaced out stitching patternMostly I stitch rows about 1/4" apart.  Because I enjoy the ripple of the stitch and it really holds together, as if it is all one layer.  3 hours in.  In between naps.  Yes, it takes a long time.  No, selling my large cloths is not practical.  Forever really.  Amazing how many times forever has come and gone though.  Deep gifts they become... even if they are for me.

gonna male it, this one.

An almost Daisy.  Despite the Deer and Woodchucks.

Summer colds…allergies…all the things that drip in my head and irritate…I often wonder if this is just my new norm given the climate change. I hope you get plenty of healing rest and pleasant hours of stitching. Take care of yourself!

Oh do get well very very soon. Awful feeling when it’s in the chest.
Sometimes nice to simply sit and stare as long as sheep and cows!!

Sending love for your busy brain and poorly body. If you are rubbing vapour rub or eucalyptus type medication into your chest, perhaps rub some on your feet also. I find doing both a comfort on nights when sleep is illusive, poorly or not.

Sending you healing energy Jude 💕 rubbing eucalyptus in oil on your chest will help 🌸 take care have a little bag packed with important documents . Where we live in Oz we have our wills etc ready to go … just in case . Sending you big hugs 🤗💚

Sending virtual hugs, chicken soup, and Reiki if you so desire. Just as the earthen wobbles on its axis sometimes so do we. All will be well eventually. Time to curl up with Soul-O and some sewing.

Sending you big healing energy from northern CA, Jude.🙏
We currently have a 3-4 acre brush fire happening here. Fire & air support are working on containing it. Sending safety to all.

Hot here too. 91 at the moment. Summer colds are the worst. At least with a winter cold you can snuggle down under a blanket and feel not so bad, cozy in a way. Hot tea, chicken soup etc. Those go down better combined with winter temps.

    Take care.

I am relieved that it’s not Covid, and hope you feel well soon.
Deep gifts for you, I understand. Imagine selling your self…

Just rest and keep hydrated-hope the fires don’t find you. If they come close grab Solo and evacuate. Stay safe and get well soon. ❤️

So sorry you are feeling poorly. Summer colds are the worst. I’ll offer an old family cure that’s been in my family for more than 80 years and we all swear by it. Wash off a grapefruit then cut it into chunks, skin and all. Put it in a stainless-steel pan (never aluminum) and add water to cover it. Put on a lid and bring it to a low boil. When the skin has become translucent, probably about 8-10 minutes, remove from heat and smash the chunks with a potato masher or something like that. Strain into a cup and add enough honey to make it palatable. Sip slowly. I suggest just curling up in a cozy chair or climb back into bed for an hour or so. Definitely do NOT go outside if it’s at all chilly. You will probably sweat profusely. That’s the quinine in the grapefruit skin working. Almost everyone starts to feel better in a few hours. NOTE: Some prescription medications forbid grapefruit so if you are one of those, don’t do this. Sorry.

Hope you’re feeling better soon! and I’m one of those hand quilters who prefers 1/4 inch spaced stitching too, and drink some hot lemon ginger water. 💙🕊️

Hoping you’ll feel better soon❤️. Always the call to rest and welcome the return of well being when it arrives. Fire season again so soon. Sigh; we had such a nice wet winter. Now to see it all drying out. More precautions being taken here in CA. Sending love and wishes for recovery and safety. ❤️

  13. Healing blessings, Jude. I, too, hardly get sick – well, THAT kind of sick, chronic illness is another thing, unfortunately. Glad the critters have left you a daisy. They are happy in my garden right now, though a lot got mowed down. Take care and feel better soon!

  14. Hope that you will feel well very soon… take time for rest and I know you are focused/will enjoy quiet time and perhaps some for your stitching…
Hope for you time to be strong again and take each day at a time with quiet, peace and help as needed!

Drink tea and if you are not a vegetarian, cook up some chicken for broth and lace it with loads of garlic and hot sauce- my go to for any type of cold. Feel better Jude but pace yourself.

Today is designated as Father’s Day so may the love, memory and spirit of your Dad surround you and give you a healing hug…my dear little Dad is always in my thoughts but on this day, I always smile.because he marveled that here in America, there was such a thing as a special day set aside for Dad’s…he felt that every day was Father’s Day because he was much older than many when he became a Dad. He was 42 when I was born and was absolutely thrilled to have a daughter…two years later, he became Dad to another little girl.

    • Jude

Yeah, gonna make some soup tomorrow. I’m back to eating meat.
Remember in Dad today, he taught me a lot about balance.

  16. Jude~ Yesterday I used the word ‘dome’ and today…here it is again! Ha. We are hot here too (especially yesterday),but only in the 80’s?! We’ll see… and there is an 11,000 acre fire nearby, so we are also on bad air quality…summer begins.
Super grateful to just be home. Relax and rest and feel better soon.

  17. Sending you loving concern over your health. Take it easy and take the time needed to recover.
The heat doesn’t make it any easier. Fire danger there? We here in CA have a long history of this and just yesterday a large fire at the Gorman pass started and is growing. We are not in danger here. our summer here is just beginning.
I love the rippled quilting. It’s great to get to this stage with it. Xo

    • Jude

Yeah, fire is new here as well as this early wicked heat,
Quilting is a comfort, it brings a sense of safety to the liquid puzzle.

  18. Sending love… and wishes for good healing naps and balance. Some things really are just about love, for others, ourselves, the work and time…at least in our current world. 🙂

  19. Wishing you a speedy recovery. And I empathize with the fire warnings… we’re in a Red Flag warning today and tomorrow a/c high winds and very dry conditions. Hoping we all get through them safely.

    • Nancy D

I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of the unusual. Unusual should happen here and there, every now and then. Give me a predicable Summer…one we can count on. Love your stitching, Jude. I hope it provides the Balance for your Spirit. Then the Body will follow.
