May

Ding! Spring. Full swing...

early one May Morning

It seems to happen overnight.  The green closes in.  I have let go of fiddling with it all.  I will just let it go. Grow.  Leave it as I found it.  I might pull the new poison ivy that popped up in the garden.  Yes.  There are so many chipmunks now,  it is officially The Chipmunk Garden.  What I thought were birdcalls all this time were chipmunk mating calls.  Who knew?  I didn't till I caught them in the act.

it all goes too fast

I tried to take a picture of the woodchuck eating the Hostas by the driveway this morning. .. ran away fast and I tried to catch it but this is all I got.

Here comes the sun hopefully

I started a May Sun Cabin, probably because there has been no sun for a week.  Just rain, mist, rain, clouds, rain.  Maybe a little Sun Dance then, in cloth. Spring Bitch has risen from the early humidity.  But Spring Bitch just talks to herself. And occasionally to the mosquitoes. I spent most of May remembering a lot of things.  It's time for some forgetting.  I've been immersed in my selves lately.  I can feel myself vibrating outward finally.

I need to revive the indigo vat. Dye some new circles so I can  talk about that in the Forever Zone this week. Thank you all who have joined me there.  Travelling Companions lighten the days.  Hey ho.

that green. it’s amazing. right now my yard is quite green but when it gets hot…poof! I’m enjoying it immensely right now.

  2. Ha, chipmunks are great little critters. We’ve had so much rain that the plants are enormous and everything is lush. Pollen is raging now, Rhu and I are both affected. Wondering does Spring Bitch turn into Summer Bitch or?

  3. Jude~ okay, well…you had me singing “chipmunk love” right off the bat! Such a silly song 🤪
We are having “May Gray” – which has been more Gray-Brown due to air quality. Next, we usually get June Gloom. Oy. I really, obviously, need and love the bright blue skies the best, but some cooler days are appreciated. We keep reminding ourselves that we will get those over 100 degree days soon enough.
Cutting down the threatening tree and using the wood this winter sounds like a such a good ritual and honoring of your time there. Winter will give you time to plan and pack.
Love the rustic quality to this cabin and you had me thinking…I grew up with landscaping and a tad of wild (a raw grass hill flattened cardboard boxes behind a friends house)…I can appreciate things about both. I do lean towards more wild these days, but live in the other. oh well.

chipmunks bring out the silly really. They are so funny and light on their feet.
It is gonna get really hot here soon too. Yikes.
Yes, I think I need winter here, one more time.
The thing is you can work with native plants and not the boring ones that everyone uses over and over…

    ❤️ Soul-O surveying his domain.
Arthritis has made my once tamed piece of earth wild. The giant ash tree is rotting from the inside. out. We are both old. The blue Jasmine is blooming and the first gardenia opened up. May can be such a glorious month.

Actually yard work or any kind of moving helps my arthritis as long as I don’t overdo it. Gonna have to mow a path through the tall wild “lawn” soon to avoid ticks.

    Drip, drip, drip.
    Rumble RUMBLE…
I might grow moss like a sloth, ha!
I have some poison ivy to battle with at the neighbor’s (I help her w her yard)…I wonder if vinegar will help? ( For the plant, not me, hah!)
My indigo has been idle for far too long!

Unfortunately pulling it or poisoning it seems the only option. And pulling it doesn’t last long, those roots seem to go too deep. I try to catch it young where food is growing, otherwise I look for someone who is not allergic to pull it. or at least cut it down to the ground for the season,,, or just avoid it, ha! Seems a plant with no purpose except to annoy humans. Gotta love it.

  6. Supposed to be some rain today, we’ve had very little this spring. We need wild in the world. I try hard to leave pockets of it in my garden.

Yeah, I am so suddenly at ease with it all. Except for the giant oak leaning into the house and the bottom seems to be hollow and rotting. Little critters are happy but a big hurricane season is expected and I think I might tale it down. Burn the wood this winter. I expect to put this place up for sale in early spring of next year.

      • After I left that comment I thought about how for all of my childhood the wild was right outside…especially in Alaska. How that has shaped what I believe and how I live. 🙂 I have a maple tree that got away from me that is right up against the house. It’s got to come down this summer. That seems like a good time line for moving.

Spring’s arrival here on the west slope of the Rockies has been a hit and miss season where it looks like spring and feels like it’s warming and waking up to another light snow says, hmm, not yet. Greens doing really well in my garden pots, peas and beans waking up, tomatoes still need a tablecloth cover some nights.
Love seeing your response to the seasonal shift in cloth. Today’s my day to just sit and do a bit of that myself. Looking futon seeing what the indigo vat produces this season.
    Critters do like the hostas!

yeah, expressing shift has so much truth in it…
I grew up with landscaping. not sure how I feel about it any more.

Ahhh…the greens of Spring! So very much rain that the path into my Woods is flooded, sneaky snakes swimming in the waters…It’s feast or famine, I guess. I think of you when I see Indigo.

I would like to see some chipmunks! I haven’t seen any since leaving Indiana in 81 or 82.
Love the log cabin block 🌞 We could do with a Sundance here too…
Yay for your indigo vat! Can’t wait. 💙🕊

Soul-O’s silhouette and that twiggy circle ❤️
Laughing at the whoosh of the woodchuck.
Weather is mostly kind here in France…grateful for that. Mosquitoes….that’s another matter 🙄
Most of my stitching here is keeping our jeans mended…which I love doing.
Cariad MAWR to you and Soul-O 💙🩵

I think a lot of you these days.
Rain, mist, rain. So much nicer for most plants then hot sun and DRY. But it can be challenging to the mood, at least for me. I really like the letting it grow and it showes in your may sun cabin. Such rich green as it is under cloudy skys but the sun beeing present.
    I like it

      • We’ve gotten a tidal wave of greens here in crab meadow too. The weed wacker wackjobs are out at 905am daily trying to slap Mother Nature back into the edging but with all the rain and clouds it is a losing battle. I’m happy my cottage is surrounded by greens so much so I don’t see any of them only the lilacs, pine, laurel and dozens of saplings that have sprung up to replace the fallen. It’s quite nice. I’m enjoying it while it lasts. I’m sure it will get hot and sunny soon. If you miss the beach come for a visit.
