I got this far... laughed to myself,
"watch out!, she is growing thorns..."
But really, she is transforming and it is enough, I let go of worry.
A few more stitches
just to hold the cloth together.
Probably.

And the garden has simply become a haven. I thought, well, that is exactly what it can be. Stuff just grows, dies back, returns if it can. The little bird on the fence is a phoebe. Just started a family under the eave of the porch. The little bird emerging from the mailbox birdhouse, a wren, just finished cleaning out the remnants of an old beehive from last season and now building a nest from the debris left over from last season's growth. The bees have settled into a birdbox outside the fence. I did not tidy the garden in the fall, and it has made such a difference. I will probably plant tomatoes and peppers but the wild edibles have taken over. I started some scallions but the wild onions here are really enough. I counted 12 chipmunks this morning. 2 frogs and 1 small snake. I am hoping the chicory I planted everywhere takes hold. Thyme has. And dandelion is now my favorite green vegetable.

I have come to realize I do not count the years in my life by the number of birthdays but instead count another year by the first crocus bloom and the songs of robins and phoebes. Then there are the magical spring peepers.
I think I have lost count, there is so much to enjoy…
Just like a rose, we must from time to time wear a coat of thorns. Love all you do and say!
Now I want to make a thorn robe!
so many small points of beauty and connection.

💚
what a joy to live so close to nature. Thorns too!
It’s all just fine…
You (stray self) look radiant. Wrens are my favourite. We were so excited just now to see a female Green Woodpecker, and last week we heard Nightingales. Oh. Both firsts for us.
So glad you are ok 🖤🤍🖤🤍🖤🤍
Wood thrush should be singing soon. They haunt me. 💚 to you and the astronomer…
Oh my God this is so absolutely charming I think I am going to cry…
L0ve.
I’m done crying. 😂
Wild gardens are the bestest. Have a beautiful day!
Doing that!
Lively, lively conversation threads, thoughts, cloth! I’m a Hawaiian woman unfamiliar with Phoebe… but was raised in an island neighborhood with an Aunty Phoebe human.🥰
Do you know if the book Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe? Magic and a phoebe, too. You might enjoy that cafe.
I don’t and I might! Ha!
In Greek mythology, Phoebe was a Titan associated with the power of prophecy and the moon. I like that they are here.
They seem like extensions of self and self protection. Beauty & strength.
Every time I look they become something different.
Good.
🙃
Beautiful thoughts, photos & art . . . your stray self seems to be radiating new, positive energy!! Thanks so much for sharing, SO glad you are okay. The simplified garden sounds perfect!
I’m grateful to be ok…
A Haven — how you make your art, how you make your world. A Sanctuary — a sacred place of welcome and love. What if we all chose to live our own unique paths in such a way? Compassion for self and for others. Beauty. Joy.
I imagine a gentle world.
❤️🌱
Growing some thorns right now seems pretty natural and healthy concerning. Are her insides spilling out? Her center spilling over? We had heavy rains again last night so I hope the tomatoes and peppers I planted this weekend are ok out there. I had a pretty short window of opportunity to plant them after so many days in a row of rain.
Little songbirds…and how they can fill us with such big joy! The garden sounds like a peaceful place these days.
A turtle just showed up!
Oh that is awesome ❤️
She’s well protected, I think, or prickly, depending on how it goes. I love wren’s and don’t have enough bird boxes anymore, I always say I’m going to get to that early on, then life takes over… I love their songs. I do have a phoebe pair, but not sure where they’re nesting. I’m not seeing many chipmunks this year, and I’m sad about that.
I love wrens too, there are so many here. They are so energetic, remind me of flying chipmunks.
the phoebes nest in the same spot every year. I love how they wag their tails.
The deer are few, strange, but there is some virus around…
Oh no, didn’t hear about a deer virus! The phoebes used go to the same place every year, but then something, hawk, I think, got all the babies, so they moved somewhere else, but I thwarted that by putting a new tarp over the wood shed, unfortunately.
she is beautiful and reminds me of the Virgin of Guadalupe figure or Avalokiteshvara, the bodhisattva of compassion
I just looked and it is funny how distant forms emerge that are so connected. Thank you.
That was my first thought as well. Our Lady of Guadalupe. She even has a similar expression on her face.
The thorns are perfect! I am still wishing that the chicory would move from the alley into my garden but it never has…Maybe now that I am keeping the blackberries cut back?
I have some chicory down by the road, but not much. I bought some seeds and scattered them a few weeks ago. we’ll see…
I like how the “thorns” accentuate the light beams radiating from her head. She looks like she has a lot of mental power while the heart is a-swirl.
I love dandelion greens, too. My grandmother made the best dandelion salad: only dandelion greens, sliced onions, sliced hard boiled eggs, and oil and vinegar.
there is that energy in the vibration of black and white again.
Love the bitterness of the greens, raw or cooked.
So good to read your shared thoughts and see your garden this morning. Bird song. The green things growing. The beautiful blue self enjoying the ocean of love.
ocean of love sounds good!
It’s funny how, when we leave it alone, Nature knows exactly how to mend and transform our Gardens to be fruitful and beautiful. 💚
That’s the way it is if u live small
wonderful wonderful!
hey hey!
Lovely message today! I need your optimism and posttive energy to get me into the day! Thank You!
Things are just too awful, this world, gotta go around it…
Your stitched Self just radiates good energy here!🌟
And I love your garden description!
Sounds magical 💚🌿
Stormy overnite and WINDY this morning, whew.
Peaceful here…
Jude, I love the way you appreciate whatever is there.
It’s the best frame of mind.
Waking up at 1:30am to severe thunderstorms again! I could use some sunshine to clear my head. Your place looks nice and spring like 💚
I love how your stray self has transformed! … much bolder 💙
Yeah, a protective move maybe
Garden sounds amazing. Especially with all the birds.
Yeah, it’s just perfect
