We spent time outside yesterday. Me and Soul-o. It was a glorious day, despite the prediction of rain, it remained dry and warm and then we had a typical April Shower toward evening.
There will be a lot of garden work today again. Spreading compost. Looking closely at what has begun to grow. I have already discovered at least a dozen new chipmunk tunnels. And there are bees in the birdhouse but that's fine.
The cold frame really worked out well so there are plenty of greens and I caught a glimpse of plantain beginning. Dandelion is everywhere. Parsley wintered over and garlic went in late but that's ok. I don't need to grow food. It is affordable and there are many good farms around to support. Maybe I just want to create an environment that is friendly to all who live here.
And dig in the dirt.
Nameless, I thought, this one remains nameless.
But then I could name it that,
Nameless. Or. Namelessness.
Hmmm, a name IS a frame.
One advantage to slow going and being unsure is that there are a zillion chances for new eyes along the way.
I am talking here today, to be talking and to try to get out of the hermit mode I found myself in over the last months. I am digging deeper into myself to redefine purpose. Preparing to be more active and communicative as I move toward the Forever Zone once again. I will send out a test Newsletter before I begin again. Clarify a few things. The link to the Zone Newsletter will also be available on the home page of this site , on Instagram, and on Facebook, just incase that is where you are or your email doesn't arrive. If you joined but forgot your password, just get in touch.

early spring days in the garden are my favorite. just getting outside raises my energy. some days i can’t believe how slow i want to go!
big woods, small cat, and i always love seeing that stone wall.
Just glorious really, can’t get enough. Those walls are protected here. So many, I feel like doing a documentary…
who built them?
They were built to clear the land for farming, but really most of the labor was slave labor.
I had a similar experience after planting asparagus and realizing that I don’t love it all that much. But I tried eating it raw, right out of the garden, and it turns out I think it’s delicious that way, much better than cooked. Sort of like the way I like the broccoli stems better than the broccoli flowers.
Gonna try raw.
I like broccoli stems too!
Perfectly normal to be a hermit and hibernate for winter. We emerge with the sun in the Spring.
My cats love asparagus, well done with mayonnaise.
ok, well I will picture that…
Yum, I love Asparagus! Your explanation of your thoughts behind the black & white made it much more clear this time. I love a cat/dog that comes easily when called 😉
I hope I will like them raw…
Maybe my thoughts change over time. Maybe clear is context sensitive.
I am glad he comes, he is old and there are a lot of wild animals here.
Working in the garden is healing and Soul-O is an excellent companion.
We feel good!
The freedom to go slow and be unsure has been such a gift. Those zillion chances hold the magic for me. Asparagus frittata is one of my favorite rites of spring.
Yeah, sure is a nightmare waiting to happen.
Maybe I will learn to like this vegetable. Slowly.🙃
I love the idea of the birdhouse turned bee house.

Yeah, the birds are kinda passed off! 😂
Asparagus! We eat ours raw …a great snack! Usually gets eaten on the way inside!
Maybe I should try, maybe I will like them better that way…
My guy hunts for wild asparagus in the spring. He has even marked the best spots with his GPS. It makes for a fun drive on the country roads, and he’s always so jazzed when he finds a few to pick!
Wow, I didn’t realize they grew wild…
Hey …you could always replant the asparagus into a flowerbed (& save the veg garden space for something you actually enjoy eating 😅)
Left to it’s own devices, it becomes a beautiful feathery fern! ( Lovely and also great in a flower vase!)
Love your thoughts on life, black & white ( it’s never that, is it!?) and your lines and continuing….and I thought–what if … You filled a square, instead of the drawn triangle!?
I think I might have to try that!!!
In my spare time …ha ha ha, but first; gardening.
Because it is Spring!
Great idea!
Watch out, what if is always a beginning!
Wheeeeeeeeeee!!
Asparagus, after the early vegetable, becomes a gorgeous tall fern-like plant for the rest of the season!
Yeah, had the fern last season, this is the first veg.
Asparagus… I grow it because I like a little but never need a whole bundle. And it is a pretty amazing plant. 🙂
Black and white, this morning I am thinking of the science of it, absorption and reflection of light… all and none.
Well there are only 2 so far! 😂
All and none, that is so big.
And you’ve only just begun…again! Letting all things be. That’s freeing!
easier than it sounds…
SoulO, black and white, and asparagus! Opened up here today by your magic! I need to grasp more fresh air.
What a day today!
