it all seems like beginning

For me, part of beginning, even again,  is not being sure.  At this point, not being sure is a chance to change my mind and I attach no shame to it. Changing my mind is not quitting, it's just rerouting.  An inner GPS showing  me  another path to the illusion of destination.  There. Wow, did I say that?

sun on my shoulders will be nice

This is what I do.  On or off camera.

So I don't want to use my phone camera.  I want to use my regular camera for video. I want to detach myself from phone mode.  Why?  That's what I feel like doing. I like the process better.  Mostly that's why I do things the way I do.  I haven't used the camera in so long, I reset all the settings and I have to start over.  A bit of difficulty because I don't remember. Challenge is healthy.

managing layers, remain thin she says to herself.

I will use this loose project as a test, I think to myself.  It's been hanging around forever and I don't remember much about it. maybe

adding the coma spin...

I realize blogging is old.  But so am I. We match.

I don't enjoy the YouTube channel thing. I use YouTube because it is free. I know it can be annoying.

I am not interested in having my stuff hosted by teaching sites. Forever mode is not a class.

Instagram and Facebook are distracting for me. Everyone is pushing.

I want to move slower.  Simplify.  Just share what I love.

I don't like passwords, but the web is wider than my capabilities to manage it.  But managing privacy is no piece of cake either.  Still I want to handle my own content. And how it is presented.

I have a few choices to make about getting  into show and tell in a more detailed way.

I want to be like garlic. slow, easy, going, resting, growing, nourishing.

I want to remain kind. Or kind enough, as life will have it.

So let me think a bit,  some of you have asked about the Zone.  I don't know how it will work yet.  Or if it will even.

Your blog is a joy to connect with. I think it may be what people are reverting to again…realizing, as we often do, that maybe we had it better before we decided on something new. I’m 4 months of instagram now, the longest absence since I joined about 12 years ago. Life does feel simpler. It does get a bit lonely without a crowd of friends to share things with but it’s maybe nice to sit with feelings like that sometimes. But I’m here, and you’re HERE and I enjoy that 🙂

  2. People started with blogging when they stepped onto the net so many years ago, and it seems like some of them are coming back to it. Blogging is definitely not obsolete, and for that, I’m grateful. Video blogging is fun to watch, but it has to be exhausting to create.
I have thought before that a patreon might be fun for you if you could make it work to your desires. I love your blog for a lot of reasons- it feels like home after all these years- but also because you show and discuss aspects of life that some of us can’t articulate but that we also need to work through. Just watching you journey ‘through’ to ‘there’ is a lesson in thinking for myself and improving how to respond when things …go the way they go.

Ah, thank you. Somehow, being the introvert that I am, it is easier to articulate from afar than in person. All of you who come here have helped me out of my shell.
and things sure do go the way they go. Yesterday, which I have no words for was a good example. But here I am. Hey ho!

I just love listening to your soothing voice on audio while concentrating on looking at your pieces in depth – it’s like a slow journey through each cloth without distraction

That’s sweet music to my ears …
I love to talk to myself and talk to all of you at the same time, how it becomes an invisible thread.

I vote keep blogging! It is where I found you and all those who comment! I too am old and old fashioned! Your home space looks so inviting! Thanks for bringing us there.

i feel like this chair and a basket of scraps, a box of loose pages, and a pencil… may be what I end up with. and of course the old voice recorder.

  5. LOVE the illusion of destination ! Your language and your blog help support my little life, and I love that we’re going old together. Yes going. This aging thing is like being in a secret club. You can’t get it unless you are it.

I cannot say how much I like your blog. It’s the only one I read anymore. No more social media either, however You tube is handy for fixing anything — want to know how to replace the glove compartment of a 21 year old VW? It’s there 😀.
I understand the desire to simplify and get back to basics more. Do what you want and if you want to change your mind, well it’s your mind after all so “feel free” to change it. We’ll still be here.

I love that you share your creative process so freely, and it’s great that you’re sharing your process of “figuring out how you want to share your process” going forward! (Whew, that was a long sentence!) I like the blog with audio. Unless it is a complex or tricky process, video doesn’t seem to add much for me. Thanks for all that you share, and for sticking with this. Life is short – please only do what you want to do!

s, I agree that audio and pictures can be enough, but they are different and sometimes my thoughts fit better for one and not the other.

You keep doing what you want to do and how you want to do it. I find your “going forward” and trying new/old things inspirational. Love that process in your work. The camera works great, and your thoughts are fun, because they are just that “thoughts”… not scripted, nor filtered. You are fearless, Miss Jude.

Social media and me never made good friends and now….hardly acquainted:)
…If that’s what garlic is like…oh..I am on that train for sure:):)…It’s freeing to enjoy the way one is, without apology.
    Blog posts…that’s enjoyable.
    And…
    Thank you.

  10. Holding Center, eh?
I am for sure one of the old school bloggers. I don’t do the other stuff at all, because as Judy Sall before me said, the words and photos together is what works for me…tell a story in a way I enjoy. I don’t want to just scroll through pics, with one line captions. I want to go into the moment a bit more.
I actually love you tube for the sheer variety of Everything you can find there in an instant. Whatever your heart’s desire is in the moment and then you can go off exploring as much as you like. I’m not wild about the entry commercials (I just hit ‘skip’ and carry on), don’t care one bit about the closing suggestions (I just stop it when I’m done, whenever that may be 😉)…but the commercials right in the middle of a story, of a moment Are annoying! lol But, even those are not the end of the world. After all, it is all free!
I smiled at the “rerouting” and inner GPS…on a trip to MA years ago…”recalculating” over and over as we missed turns went from funny to maddening pretty quickly! haha
Your garden sewing chair looks like a lovely spot.

it’s all ok if you can use it. at least there is choice. the man here loves YouTube. I pretty much never go there except when I need to find something specific.
Recalculating is such a funny thing now, we laugh, sometimes we make wrong turns on purpose…

Totally understand focusing your time on the things you enjoy and not on those you don’t. There are enough must do items in life. These are optional. I enjoy your sharing in whatever form it takes. (Yes, I do like blogs!)

  12. Jen

“I want to be like garlic”
    Me, too.
A lot of what you spoke here definitely resonated; not wanting to do/spend time on what you don’t want to do! ( Amen to That!!)
Stitching is like gardening, It’s a slow process, and all the more beautiful for it.

  13. I for one still very much appreciate your blog posts! I am also a dinosaur blogger because combining photos and words just works better for me. I like to learn, and watching a sped up “reel” just isn’t cutting it! There are videos I use on youtube for some things, but reading blogs (yours and others) is something I enjoy and look forward to! I hope you continue as long as it works for you!
