Two

Yesterday was sunny , warmer but still cold.

A sense of spring in winter.  Two seasons at once, in my mind. A moment is complicated.  Not just one thing.

I stitched this magic spiral yesterday.  For the New Beginning Cloth.

This morning it's warmer.  New bird sounds,  Evaporating snow.  I will stack lots of wood on the porch, Big rain storms coming, bringing warmth, so fine with me.

One moment but more than one moment.

Ruben has arrived.  Bruno has a brother.   And Nana is very busy...

The New Beginning cloth

This one, A New Beginning, a more free form approach.  When I get the chance I will just  go with how it goes.  Patch by patch.

    Hi Jude,
Hope you’re getting some of this beautiful sunny weather expecting a high of 50’s today.
Setting in the sun writing this note to you.
The warmth of it is melting into my bones.
I promise that I’ll not complain about the heat this summer.
    Blessings to you and family.

So glad that your new grandson arrived; You’re going to be a very busy Nanna, and a happy one, as you play with them. Bruno has really caught on as how to shovel! What a good pic. I love the Magic Spiral, and seeing Soul-O’s head in the centre and the new black & white 9 square is a great design and very smart. Roll on sunshine, I say – it would be way too cold for me. Wishing you every happiness, Jude.

  3. Congratulations, Jude, and welcome to the world, Ruben!
Ice everywhere, wood shed path is unwalkable without super high-tech ice cleats, which I don’t have. But tonight, it’s 42 and pouring rain. Yikes!

How wonderful – two little boys! Congratulations and thank you for sharing your happy news. I can feel Spring in the air here in Virginia. The first snowdrops and daffodils are popping up and blooming. I hope you have some Spring blooms and warm sunshine soon!

  5. How wonderful! And how lucky these boys are to have you in their lives — a wise and loving nana living nearby & ready to explore the world with them as they grow. May you all enjoy the adventure!

What a confusing time, its hard to find the words, disbeleif for me, amongst it. New beginnings that’s somewhere to pin hope. Black and white quilt and a black and white world amidst that snow so pure. Enjoy being Nanna, real meaning, love and nurture with patience and care like only Nana can xxx

What wonderful news, so glad all went well. I am so happy for you and your growing (!) family. Life is so sweet and sour 😋At last I am in a position to follow in your footsteps , the end of a forty year marriage and a move to be with my daughter and grandchildren. You have been an inspiration Jude, seeing you make such a HUGE life change has enabled me to face the fear and even start looking forward to it. Thank you stitchy friend of the ether and I hope it bloody warms up soon where you are !!!🥰

Another little one to share the world with. Joy in the form of two little boys who will share their world with Nana and she with them. Blessings to all in the family and a special hug for big brother Bruno. The late writer and environmentalist, Rachel Carson said this about children and wonder: said, “If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder, he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it”. This adult is you Jude.

Congratulations to the family on the new addition. I love how their names use the same letters.
And WOW. Now, that’s an icicle and a half.
Another “And” — I’m loving the black and white pieces. So crisp and clean. Almost like a nod to Soul-o.

Lovely news! Congrats Jude! Nice for Bruno, too. How things can be two things at once is a perfect way to describe this part of the year.

We had the last day of first spring on Sunday. Monday was the first day of second winter. That is how we describe the weather this time of year.
